To a moderator,
Could someone delete this thread.
All of it.
I don't feel many people have really thought through what they've started and said here.

There has been no in-game contact between factions who have not yet met in the game (tech trading, map exchanges, etc)
Obviously, I am not privy to what might transpire in chat rooms, PMs, e-mails etc where alliances might be disussed and screenshots saved and pasted and sent to other faction members. However, in the Private Forum discussion threads there is no mention of such shennanigans.
Statements in the faction newsletters and bulletins are there for all to read. I cannot comment on their truth or accuracy, whether they are fact or propaganda or misinformation.
I believe that Tass, in contacting Archaic, breached the "no contact before in-game meeting", and full credit to Archaic for adopting the honorable highroad. I have seen no evidence of "other factions doing it"
And interestingly, as of a few moments ago, Tass is not even listed as a Hive member (indeed, Hive numbers have fallen from 22 of a week or so ago to 19 now)
And I have no moderator powers to padlock or remove a contentious thread.

Voltaire: Quite simply, there seems to have been a few breaches of the no diplomatic contact between factions before they meet in game. I think there is a grey area and a fine line between the "We love your faction" and "great newsletter, we have much in common" posts/PMs/emails, and the "we hope to have an alliance when we meet" posts/PMs/emails. I think we need Googlie to make a thread stating what is and what is not allowed, so that well all know what the rules are.

I second Drogue's post. We all have to be careful not to cross the fine line. While it is alright to say "we'll become more powerful when we merge with our most trustworthy friend faction(s)" since this is not an actual proposal aimed toward a specific faction, it is not ok to say "it is our intention to join force with you when we meet" before we actually meet each other in the game.
Edit: Just read GooglieGod's rule on the game parameter thread. Looks like the "it is our intention to join force with you when we meet" line is ok if it is not contained in a PM, email or chat room conversation.
