This was what I thought of at first, but the change from 50 to 40 can't possibly be that big, really. Besides, that doesn't affect the number of posts a thread has at all. If I view a thread with 200 posts, I read 5 pages instead of 4 now, the load to the server ought to be the same except there're more slightly shorter periods of connection.
So is the big idea here that more people will be able to view shorter bits of threads? And that full pages will have time to load between server outages?  Still, I can't imagine the effect of dropping from 50 to 40 being that big.

After being downloaded, the thread has no effect on the load. Ten thousand people could have a window with 100 posts in it, if they just didn't load them all at once.

After being downloaded, the thread has no effect on the load. Ten thousand people could have a window with 100 posts in it, if they just didn't load them all at once. |
