As of yesterday, I am officialy a high school graduate..... my thoughts Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

My graduation was like most of school: I sat for a long time and waited to leave(speeches lasted 3 hours....).

The longest part of my education is now complete....... do I have something long, drawn out, witty or insightfull to say?

Not really......

It was "eh" *shrug*-not terrible but in my of course EVER so humble opinion, MOST of it was a complete waste of time, for me at least, as I would say I learned ROUGHLY 75% of the material out of school...... I wont be egotistical, but for the MOST PART, the only class which taught me anything I didnt know, was my math classes, and programming classes.......

English, science, social sciences, "economic" electives..... all fairly basic stuff, even in the honors classes-total waste of time, actually I need to amend that statement, I learned things I didnt know in my Chemistry class, granted it was utterly useless stuff only someone going into that field would need to know, but I still learned it, LOL!

It's kinda sad really, how all that time was waisted........ there should be equvency tests in all subjects so you dont have to take them if you do well.

If nothign else I've come to one conclusion after high school: It wasent that bad, mostly just a long drawn out boring wait.

i think if i didn't have to waste so much time in high school, i might not have collapsed and burned out so quickly in college.

I really did very little in high school, most of my schoolwork was done between 8 AM and 3 PM.... so I wasted tons of time - although I'm not sure downloading 6+ days of music is really wasting time

But I made it to college (well as long as I don't get kicked out - my poli sci grade probably won't help)

To some extent its all a waste of time........

Congrats Vesayen

I'm just now going to be a Sophmore when school starts back up
And yea I completely agree a lot of what you learn in school is a complete waste. The only real thing I get from school is the social part and the people.

Congrats again, and good luck

Congtulations Vesayen,

Don't think college is going to be nearly so dull...

Seems like the school education didn't stretch you... don't worry, it gets tougher... and more worthwhile!

i cant agree more with your observations. They were a waste of time... for most anyway. Ill never forget my preAP physics class junior year where so many people struggled with the concepts of gravity and Newton's 3 laws of motion. English was semi useful fershmen year, but was a complete waste after that. History and geography was a waste of time... like Ves says, 75% was already known to me. Thank god for my math classes tho. I actually did learn a lot in those, adn I even wich I was given more instruction in Algebra in my early years, as I never built a solid foundation in algebra (which is absolutely essential to higher math) until much later, making things more difficult for me. tBut, overall, the school curriculums are largely ineffiecient. My public high school WAS ONE OF THE TOP RANKED IN THE COUNTRY, and it suffered from inefficiency... just immagine how some of the worst do...t he American public school system needs to address its chronoic ineffeciencies before real problems arouse.

I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time. I didn't take the full experience, I enjoyed near by cafeteria too much, skipping classes.. but I always managed to get through exams no problem. I did study to them at home though, so it's not like I knew the answers because I was so smart. I studied for those. I partied too much, yes it is possible. If there was a party, I was there, and I was drunk. But it was socially good school, and I did learn some things too. Maybe it could have been a year of intensive studies instead of 3 years of.. slow studies.
I'm kind of glad I had to go to the army right after that, it really straightened me out for good. I hate that lazy bastard who I used to be before that. Man talking about irresponsible little **** who thought was something he wasn't. Time well spent there.

I'm glad now, that I didn't get right into the Uni I wanted.. I was too immature, I would have been drunk all the time. Not to say I wouldn't party, but back then.. I wouldn't of have passed many of the tougher exams and the worse part.. I think I wouldn't have cared about it either. Now I do .

Anyway! Back to YOU! Congrats!

Kman, That's the best style IMO if you know the study plan. I always (these days) check out what is coming, so I know the subject already. It's a lot easier to learn things good that way, at least it is to me. And it doesn't require THAT much extra work.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

school is mainly a social institution to teach you how to work with others.

It's educational value is sketchy at best. You learn the basics, that's about it. It's mainly to teach you enough to get into a state public college.

I miss it though . 6 hours a day is so much better than the amount of hours I worked in the navy, and the 10 hour days I do now. It was so great having a job to get me plenty of money, and also have no responsibilities. Well my job had responsibilities- but not really- it was a breeze for me.

btw it is high school I miss, not middle school. I was treated pretty badly in middle school. I was going to school in a good neighborhood, and I didn't really fit in (I was poor and listened to heavy metal). Plus I was in advanced classes, so I really didn't fit in with those preppies and nerds. But then I moved and went to an inner city high school. A much, much poorer school. At least I felt like I wasn't the poorest kid in school. Nobody paid attention to me, and that was just fine by me

Really? I have never seen one in real life.. we only have boring animals like wolves and bears. And they're usually shy too. No snakes, spiders.. nothing. Not even armadillos. But I think I hate them. Man, you're the one in Texas talking about lack of firepower I have a pellet gun though.. There's a shooting club next to me, and they say they have desert eagle.. I just might go and test that one out! Also Magnum 44 is supposed to be there.. when I get my butt there, maybe I go shopping and then we can shoot armadillos with big hand guns and drink beer. Hey, it might be even legal there!

Most people look back on their high school days with fondness. Never again will you have so much free time and so few responsibilities. "The best days of your life" is the cliche, and like all cliches there's more than a little truth to it.

Don't be so quick to knock all the "useless" classes you had to take. You can't really know what you're going to be doing 10, 15 or 20 years down the road.

In America, high school is the last freebie you get. You've been pampered, hand-held and supported from birth to graduation. From now on, people will only part with their knowledge for money. No more free rides. I, for one, wish I had paid attention more in some of those "boring" classes.
