	If you could be leader of a civilization/Empire- which would it be? Suffering from ads?

poll time.

I'm sure I'll miss some, and people will scream at me. I'll try not to include silly call to power options like the Jamaicans

I really didn't have room for Italy and nations such as Prussia. Sorry . I wasn't sure about the Persians- but they are in civ2 so I included them. Are they a real civiliaztion? I don't know much about them. I was going to include an option for various arabic states, but had no room.

U.S. would seem like a good option, but the U.S. has too many constraints. Although you could argue the U.S. did not have these constraints in ww2, and could do pretty much whatever they want (dependant on the voters at home of course)

Assuming that I can pick any timeperiod I want, I choose Germany.

Why? Cause at the time I want they were the leading country in the world....yes, during WWII.

Things I would change...

Get rid of that nonsense we call anti-semitism. If the Jewish people can last 2000 years of persecution, what makes you think that you'll be able to get rid of them now?

Not going to attack Russia-I've learned from Napoleon. Going against Russia in a land battle is one-sided.

New policies-EVERYONE is equal under my rule. Benefits all around.

People will be taught that there is NO such thing as a "master race".

The great majority of Roman emperors died violent deaths. Augustus was probably the only one from his dynasty to die peacefully. The Flavian and Antonines fared better. Septimius Severus was the only one in this dynasty to escape murder. Out of the 30+ barracks emperors, only Glaudius Gothicus and Diocletian died naturually. Of the remaining Roman emperors, only Constantine, Constantius II, Valentian I, Theodosius, Honorius, and Romulus Augustulus died peacefully.

Their fate was even worse than American presidents.

I chose the U.S.- mainly for quality of life issues.

But the germans would be tempting. One can't help but be tempted by the idea of doing it "right" and winning ww2. But it would take more than not attacking Russia imho. I think England was a serious problem. Germany never posed a serious threat to conquering England. Somehow I would have to get out of war with them. But I don't think that was possible. The war could drag on for over 10 years

The mongols are tempting. I was initially going to vote for them- why I put them first. But I changed my mind.

Nothing to do with the fact that I already am...

In the real world, I'd choose the US today. The current US government (I don't just mean Bush, I mean this time period) has a great opportunity to shape the world. If they wanted to, they could remove massive amounts of the world pollution, to help the 3rd world develop (via the world band and IMF if necessary) and the ability to promote their ideals. The US almost dictates fashion, culture, economic management and politics to the rest of the developed world. It is the best opportunity to shape how the next century will develop, and the course the world will take. Not to mention the incredible respect from being the President.

However that is a lot of responsibility too, so being King of England would be great. Little to do, much money, and the best chat-up-line ever.

I would love to be patriotic and choose leader of England during the Empire, but I'd hate to live in Victorian England, and the Empire was utterly boring IMHO. All the back handed burocracy. And I don't fancy being a war leader. I'd rather have the power already than have to fight for it.

if i were the germans, i would smash the french and the russians in 1905 when they were much weaker, comparatively, than i was.

I would choose the U.S, but back in the day when everything wasn't set in stone. I would turn it into a Facist dictator ship, crush the Civil war, than build up a massive military power and march north.

Oh what fun that would be for me and my Facist Dictatorship Country.

Oh, I would also steal the name "Mother Land" just cause it sounds cool, and I would enforce Comrad, and Mate, into common language, again on the basis of it sounding cool.

The Spanish Empire in the mid-16th century would be great to lead and live in....and prevent the Armada disaster too.

Other than that, Victorian England at its height....a bit ironic but...whatever.
