Strengths: Very agile for his size, he can score facing the basket or with a variety of shots down low.

Personal: Named Mr. Basketball in the state of Minnesota and played in the 2001 McDonald’s High School All-America Game.

Now, I haven't talked to him since just before he graduated from East, right before I joined the Navy, but I did follow his career. He left college two years early to be the 55th pick in the draft, and must now fight for a spot on the Wolves.

I think he made a mistake, what about you

Full PM-box? Change here!

At least he got picked... many didn't.

Now he's actually in a better position... If the Wolves cut him, he's a free agent and negotiate with a team that can use him.

Granted, he might have gotten better if he stayed in school another year... but he isn't "super star" material, and might have gotten injured and not gotten a cent.

Tired of ads?

Well considering that the TWolves lost Smith (and got the stiff Johnson back), and will probably lose Nestorovic to free agency (and with no cap room to spare until they get rid of Brandon's contract either by trade or in January), they could very well be in need of some size, so your friend as a decent chance of getting through training camp and making the squad. Rookie minimum is something like $270k so that's not a bad salary to be sat at the end of the bench or on the injury list

since this thread contains basketball. I wna complain some. denver is being way overhyped by the media and teams. the only reason so many players are looking there is they're a historically bad franchise who signed juwan howard to one of the most overpaid contracts in history. and they wanna be the next juwan howard!

jason kidd is only using them as leverage to make everyone more competitive and everyone else just sees $ signs. problem is denver will most likely overpay someone. while they will have their pick of who they overpay. the rest of the free agent class will be taking mid level exceptions while denver will be the one who pays out the 8 mill a year.

Not exactly true. Juwan Howard got his $100M contract from the Wizards, was then dealt to the Mavs, and then traded to the Nuggets. The main reason Vanderweghe did this is that the money is coming off the cap this year, so he has the 18M to spend.

Don't underestimate the appeal of playing with Carmelo Anthony and some of the other young guns they have (Nene Hilario for example).

That being said I think Kidd will resign with the Nets, who will also pick up either Brown or Mourning for the exception.
The Spurs will go for O'Neal, Miller or possibly Brand to replace Robinson. I think Parker convinced them enough to keep his job.
Denver will get Arenas and possibly Olowakandi, and if the Clippers really screw up, they could have a go at Brand or Odom.

sterling can screw anyone cuz he can wait 15 days on all his restricted agents. so u have to wait 15 days and in brand's case u probably have to overpay. cuz brand is the one sterling likes.

Arenas might goto denver but if they're smarter they'd take miller. who will come a lot cheaper. and miller is the only restricted free agent who sterling is unlikely to )*(#@ w/ u on.

its unlikely the spurs can get brand, also the spurs are bargain shoppers. brand isnt a bargain, bradmiller might be though after the pacers have to dump crap to keep jermaine oneal.

and what POSSIBLE good does brown or mourning do for the nets? I mean really. u could argue the nets need defensive presence inside, but they what they REALLY need is shooting. thats why their fast break breaks down against the spurs while the mavs didn't. the mavs were able to effectively use secondary fast break jump shooting to nail the spurs even if 2-3 players got back. while the nets either goto the hoop or are screwed.

No NO no NO... Denver has been doing good things recently. Kiki Vandewe's plan has been to simply unload almost everyone they had on that team, a good plan considering they SUCK. Right now they are at the lowpoint of their rebuilding, but they have a lot of potential to be good in a few years, especially with the good management they have now. They have freed a lot of cap room, got an excellent draft pick in Carmello Anthony, and are now in a good position to have a decent team down the road.

As for Juwan Howard, yeah that was stupid, but they needed to play somebody.

here's a likely not so good scenario that could happen for denver. I not saying it will cuz I dont see future.

nene hilario never becomes an offensive player. he is simply a 6'11" super athlete who has his prime then declines. carmelo anthony becomes an injury ridden almost all star(shoulder?). they overpay for someone. lets say they overpay for maggette and arenas. leaving them w/ maggette/hilario/anthony/arenas. good right? no inside scoring. maggette's is improving his shooting but he is not a shooter. arenas isnt a shooter anthony can't hit 3's. so they have lotsa athletes, no inside scoring and marginal shooting.

at some pt their salary cap bubble bursts and they are back down to be in prime rebuildin territory! yahoo! its easy to be in prime rebuilding territory, draft a player w/ a lot of potential have a lot of cap room.

being a native of San Antonio, i seriously doubt O'Neal will come to the spurs. Many of the fanatical spurs fans literally lust for his blood. He is purely hated in SA... kinda sad really, but people just have this irrational depravity toward him. Miller is a possibility, as is Jason Kidd, the former adversary

There's absolutely no guarantee that a low draft pick results in a bad position for the player. Heck, this year's Calder trophy runner up, Henrik Zetterberg of the Red Wings, was 210th in the 99 draft...
