I think this is a nasty exceptional bug which cannot be fixed save for BHG themselves...
Correct me if wrong.

Are you sure those are supposed to be mountains and not cliffs?

I think its a mix, some cliffs, some mountains. Look on the map from the Pics I posted, everything thats "Higher" the the default ground has that affect to it, so i'm not sure.

This was a known issue loading any save game that had cliffs in it. It will be fixed in Patch 3.
