	SPIN for Voxians Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

There has been a grass roots effort started last night by Theseus to start drumming up more interest in the Civ3 part of 'Poly. It was suggested by UnOrthOdOx to contribute more to SPIN as well. Are the Voxians going to take part in that?

If any of you want to give me a few ideas for "SPINning" the latest Voxian events I can try to write something out. I just don't want to start giving away our secrets which is why I'd like to hear some ideas from others before I start writing something for it.

Wolves Plague Beta-By-The-Sea

Beta-By-The-Sea, North Estonia - The sad fate of the fine citizens of North Estonia has endured yet another savage twist. Wild wolves are invading the homes and shops of the populace. Before the abortive war with Gathering Storm these pests were a mere nuisance. The best and brightest of The Voice have now passed on, and the remaining armed forces have not been able to put a stop to this incursion. Further they bring not only their nightly depredations, but have introduced fleas and lice into our fair cities.

Said one disgruntled citizen who requested anonymity, “Isn’t it enough that we must give up our homes? Now we cannot even obtain any peace in our final hours here. Is there no end to this madness?”

Vox administrators have refused to comment on this mass influx of these filth-ridden animals, but RhothSPIN Press has managed to uncover an unofficial conversation speculating on the source of these wolves. Names were not mentioned, but it is suspected that many centuries ago these hounds were unleashed to breed in our wildlands. Over the years they have maintained a significant presence on our homeland despite repeated efforts to eradicate them. Emboldened by the lack of armed troops manning our fair cities these wolves have increased their invasion of our land tenfold.

With no end to these wolves in sight, and our orderly Voxodus underway, the forces of Gathering Storm must deal with these pests themselves.

Great story, Rhoth! The only thing I could suggest is that we have suggested Beta-by-the-Sea as a tourist resort. If you recall - first prize in the Limerick contest was a trip there. You may want to add a line about sun bathers being attacked on the beaches. Maybe a sandcastle being trashed...

I also have a story half crafted on Dissidentville: A People's History. It talks about the multi-cultural history of the city - remember - it was once Luxian as well - and its fond remembrance for its founding father - some vagrant named Dissident. (my apologies in advance Diss for any disparaging remarks I may make. )

The collected works of the Voxian Minister of Information, soon to be published. There has been a delay at the publisher's office. Apparently there is some debate over whether to classify it as history or fiction.

Yeah I know how that goes. My writing schedule is too erratic at the moment, but I occasionally get some stuff that is much better and/or longer than I expected.

Citizens Protest Call For Voxodus

The Voice, North Estonia – Increasing frustration with the approaching Voxodus has finally blown through the citizens of The Voice, capitol of the Voxians. In a surprising turn of events Arvin Tallus, the famed game hunter, has led a protest march on the palace, demanding for The One to step down.

No one else showed up though.

RhothSPIN Press was the first on he scene to witness Mr. Tallus rants. Government officials ignored him however, until in a fit of pique he drew his hunting bow and fired an arrow toward the palace. The remaining peacekeeping forces immediately took notice then as Mr. Tallus was hauled off to the dungeon beneath the palace. As the written mouth of The Voice, RhothSPIN Press has been granted an exclusive interview with Mr. Tallus.

You heard it here first folks!

RhothSPIN Press: Mr. Tallus, the public just wishes to know why you’ve decided to single handedly call for the resignation of The One.

Arvin Tallus: Who wants to know?

RP: The public.

AT: Well you oughta tell ‘em to go get their lazy butts outa bed and start protestin’. This is our home we’re talkin’ about.

RP: What do you mean?

AT: I don’t expect you to get it. You’re a lazy reporter who don’t even work for no livin’.

RP: I resent that.

AT: Tough! You wanna talk to me then you gotta hear my words. I’m an honest man and I don’t have much use for people who don’t like what I gotta say. I don’t pull no punches. I lay it on the line.

RP: All right Mr. Tallus. Lay it on the line for me.

AT: As long as you understand me. All right then. My family has been huntin’ wild game in the forests around The Voice for thousands of years. Our line goes back almost as far as The One’s family. And now this Voxodus is gonna uproot my whole family to some place called Legos Minor. I’m a hunter, I ain’t no builder like these Lego people. My son will be a hunter too, and I ain’t about to let him be influenced by no Lego builder. That’s who we Tallus’s are. We’re hunters. Ain’t nobody gonna change that, not even The One.

RP: Trying to kill The One isn’t the way to remove him from power.

AT: Ah, I wasn’t tryin’ to kill him. Just put a little scare into his britches to wake him up. This Voxodus is a bad idea.

RP: You appear to be the only one who believes that.

AT: Ah, what do you know?

RP: You were the only one who showed up at your “protest”.

AT: Get out of my sight. I ain’t talkin’ to no more lazy press people.

RP: But…

AT: Get outa here before I find me another bow and shoot you too!

I was thinking - we should have an article announcing the name of the new island, and the names of our new cities. But we need some creative way of tying it together or introducing it - and I haven't come up with anything yet.

How about- Vox Economoic report - " A building boom sweeps Voxtavia". This once we have all our cities established and the new government in place.

I am alos planning on doing one regarding the Voxian Reform Church. I was thinking of calling our new church RAVE. Reform Association of Voxian Ecclesiastics.

I was already thinking about introducing our new cities. The article I already posted is sort of a lead-in to it. I haven't figured it all out yet. This is what I am thinking:

A New Home...

The New Voice - Voxian citizens established several towns on the land gifted to them by the Lego people. (Mention city names. Would like a few stories about a couple of names but do not have any yet.) With the towns established Voxian citizens are calling their new land home. A word bandied about in the past has been adopted as the name of their new land. (some offical proclamation about Voxtavia.)

... and an end to the anarchy.

Feeling once again at home the people of Vox have ended their period of anarchy and established a new Republican government. (need something more here about offical announcements, quotes, etc.)

-- That is what I was thinking so far. I need to develop it further and hopefully I will get some inspiration for the missing parts. Feel free to help inspire me.

I used Jon's post to fill out the end of anarchy part. I am still trying to think of things for the city names part. Since our cities have been founded I would like to post this sometime this weekend.

"While Anarchy was fun and all, I must say that I am glad that a government was finally formed." While making a pre-election speech from the forum in front of the new capital building Jon vowed "the garbage will be picked up. Mostly I am looking forward to supper. I haven't been able to eat for a week from the stench." Citizens began making signs saying "No more garbage", a few had pictures of other candidates on the back. With the groundswell of support the other candidates didn't stand a chance. When asked why the other candidates began dropping out of the race Wittlich said "How can a real politician compete against a no garbage campaign? It's not in their nature."

Rhoth - your last letter to RP and GoW - very well done btw - - got me thinking about how we as a team can help boost the 'fun' factor of this game - which I think has been lagging for more than few.

Maybe it is time we gave a big SPIN blitz, or maybe we start a whole different theme thread which might get folks going in a more positive vein.

Any thoughts? Harry? Witt?

I think you're right that the "fun factor" has been lagging for this game if the recent posts in the main forum are any indication. Something along the lines of another contest like what you did when Vox lost the war is in order. I don't have any ideas at the moment though.

BTW, the letters to GoW and RP were copied from my GS letter and then I made several changes (taking out the luxury bit and changing the names mainly). When I originally wrote the GS letter it was kind of off-the-cuff since asleepathewheel was roleplaying out the exchange and I decided to continue that.

Okay, so that quick I just had an idea. When SPIN was new, one of the members of GS did a Hitchhikers Guide. That might be something we could think about doing too. Perhaps as a collaborative effort design a history of the new Vox cities...not that there is as much to work with, but we can probably work up some of the things I'd mentioned in the letters about being used to hardship and that most of our populace are mountain men and fishermen.

Another thought to work on that ties into the Hitchhikers Guide...a Vox public announcement about the opening of our borders for trade. We now have a few harbors and a marketplace so we can "invite" others to see the wonders of our mountains.

I have a few ideas for some things to write up for both the Hitchhikers Guide (probably won't call it that though) and the announcement. I'll work on them over the next few days and try to get something posted here for review before sending it out for general consumption.
