Multiplayer More than 8 players? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Hi.
I would like to know if it is possible to play Civ3PTW more than 8 players (humans or computer)

it is possible to play single player with more than 8 players, however I beleive that the limit for multiplayer games is 8.
