Weight: 91kg/204lbs/14st6lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown/Green depending on sunlight exposure and some other factors like what I've been eating
Marital Status/Sexual Orientation: Serial Heterosexual Monogamist
Family background: Happy home. One younger brother who keeps calling me shortie (he's 2m06). Parents are Dutch but met working for the European Commission in Luxembourg. My mother is from Hillegom in Noord Holland, and a lot of her side of the family is involved in the prototypical dutch employment of flower and bulb export My dad is from Zwolle in Overijssel, his dad was a carpenter and smith as well as a seemingly highly decorated (we only found the medals and letters after he died) WW2 resistance fighter.
Education: Primary and secondary school at the European School in Luxembourg, which is set up as a benefit for the workers at the EU institutions. Got a 2:1 from Manchester University in Molecular Biology. Did 2 years of PhD in the Immune Evasion of Gamma Herpes Viruses at Cambridge University, but due to a variety of reasons had to drop out. Am currently doing a MSc conversion course to Computer Science, where my options mainly focus on systems analysis and database design.
Hobbies: Rowing, rowing, rowing During term time I spent about 35 hours per week on the water or in the gym and about 8 hours in class Aside from that I play computer games (Dark Age of Camelot only really), surf the web, go out with my mates.
Religion: Mother was raised strict Protestant, my dad catholic. Used to go to Catholic services until I was about 11, then changed to Protestant services until 16. By then I had realised that the existence of a "god" didn't conform with my worldview, and stopped going. Atheist now.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Name: Mark (named after a Great-Great Grandfather)

Residence: Manhattan, East Village area. I was born in Tennessee and lived in Memphis until I was 12, when my parents moved to Maryland, where I stayed until I was 23.

Age: 26 (for a few more days, at least! B-day is 7/19/76)

Height: 5'8"

Weight: Varies between 150-155

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Strawberry blond

Ethnic background: Primarily German, with a lot of Anglo-Saxon thrown in. Some Irish and Scottish. So a total WASP.

Family: I am the youngest of 2 boys. My brother Alan, who just turned 29, lives in Maryland with his wife of 9 years (Jen) and their 3-year old son, Ben. Alan is a computer programmer for the government (shh!) and Jen works part-time as a nurse in a methadone clinic when she isn't being a mom.

My parents live in Maryland and are both educators, my father being a college business professor and my mom a former high school teacher, now an administrator. Dad was born and raised in Indiana, mom in upstate New York. My dad's mother and stepfather (actual father died at age 36 back in 1954) live in Phoenix.

My mom's mother died in 1994 from lung cancer, having been a lifelong smoker. My mom's father has since remarried and lives in Ohio.

My aunts and uncles are scattered about the country in places like Raleigh, NC, San Antonio, TX, Richmond, VA and upstate NY.

Education: BA in Music (vocal performance). Went to college in Maryland. I went to a private high school and my graduating class consisted of 13 people total. One of those other people is a current roommate of mine whom I have been friends with for 14 years. The high school is actually where my mom taught and is now an administrator, which is the only way my parents could afford the place (due to a substantial tuition reduction). I attended college on a full scholarship, with room and board, but the school was not my first choice. My parents refused to pay for my college education, so I had to go where the money was.

Religion: Atheist, but I've run the gamut. My parents are not religious at all, but as far as I can tell do have spiritual beliefs. We attended a Unitarian Universalist church in Memphis, but couldn't find anything we liked in Maryland, since it was a conservative area and the churches all tend to have the Jesus freak-types. After a friend of mine died when I was 18, I flirted with born-again Christianity, becoming a member of a fundie campus group. However, common sense quickly got the better of me and I lapsed back into agnosticism, but did tinker in some Buddhist practices. Didn't care for that either, so ever since I've become more devout in my lack of religious beliefs. My brother is a staunch atheist, bordering on outright hostility towards religion. I'm much more mellow.

Politics: I've always had an interest in it, but as I become more disenchanted with leaders I tend to avoid the subject. I'd rather focus on social issues than particular politicians. I'm socially quite liberal, with borderline libertarian beliefs in terms of "consentual crimes." Fiscally I am more moderate, being an ardent supporter of balanced budgets. Despite accusations from *some* here, I am not remotely communist and am quite happy with capitalism in theory, though it does need government-injected compassion. I suppose I'm a Social Democrat.

Romance stuff: Most here should know I'm one of the gays. I remember having crushes on guys that my mom taught when I was as young as 5 or 6. When I hit puberty, I started having the hots for guys in my class. I figured it was just a passing phase or hormones just going bezerk. Even after I fooled around with a guy in high school when I was 16, I didn't think of myself as gay. A lot of this also had to do with living in a conservative area where I heard gay slurs uttered all the time by peers. I dated a girl for 2 years, though I never laid a hand on her. We are now best friends and I see her regularly.

In college, I was (disgustingly enough) completely closeted and celibate, having become afraid of the whole issue. This changed my junior year, when we got internet access in our dorm rooms. I was then introduced to gay porn (woohoo!) and gay chat rooms. It was in the chat rooms that I began to realize fully I was homosexual and was going to have to learn to live with it. By senior year, I realized that none of my friends or family knew who I really was and this sent me into a bad depression. After some therapy with a campus counselor (the first person I ever told I was gay), I began coming out to my college friends. To my relief, everyone I told was immediately accepting, loving and supportive. I came out to my brother and sis-in-law over Christmas break while home, which again was received well (Jen is a total faghag anyway and has incredible gaydar, so already believed it). The hardest moment was telling my parents, which I did on my 22nd birthday the summer after I graduated. I can't think of when I've been more terrified. They took the news reasonably well, but my mom was obviously struggling with it. Dad has been totally fine with it. To this day, my mom still says things indicating she is holding out hope I will "change my mind," and doesn't seem to understand how insulting it is for me to hear that. Of course, I don't understand how she feels having a gay son. Anyway, my depression totally lifted shortly after telling them, and since then I've never had a problem with it, even at the worst of times.

Now I am generally out except at work, but even there a few of my colleagues know explicitely, and I've gotten signs everyone else knows unofficially. However, with the exception of my aunt and uncle in Texas, I don't think anyone in my extended family has been told, and I've left that up to my parents to deal with.

I'm rather sexually active, but I like to think that I'm not a slut. I always practice safe sex, I don't go for skanky situations (no public places, bathrooms, parks, etc, thank you) and never take advantage of someone or lie to someone to get sex. I'm a good boy, I am! I've not had much luck with relationships, but that's not a major deal for me at this point. I enjoy being single and find the compromises of dating often unbearable.

Interests: Of couse, everyone here probably knows of my love of classical music and opera. I sing in amatuer venues here in NY, including a Brooklyn opera company and a Manhattan chamber choral group. I'm also a huge history buff, especially ancient and European history. I dabble in architecture, often doodling house plans in dull meetings. I am a ship enthusiast, especially the old ocean liners. This comes from being a Titanic buff since I was very young, though I've not delved much into that. Like Agathon, I'm also a bit of a Ripper enthusiast. Obviously, I like computer games, especially the Civ and Diablo series. I'm just getting into GTA3 now...

I'm also into exercise, and workout at least four times a week. I have been working with a personal trainer this year, with good results.

My favorite color is teal.

TTFN!

Tired of ads?

Let's see, my name is Benjamin James Hirsch, born October 31st, 1985 at 9:59 pm, in the same town I reside in today; a suburb of DC in Montgomery County, Maryland.

I'm 5'10" and weigh about 136 lbs. I already know I'm too skinny, but I'm gaining weight, so it's alright. I've got short, curly brown hair (some think it's dirty blonde *shrug*) and eyes that float between green and brown.

My ethnicity consists of four parts, mostly. I'm a quarter Czech, a quarter German, a quarter Welsh, and a quarter Pole. Basically, I burst into flames on contact with the Sun (I get the feeling I've said that here before).

My father is a Jew only by culture. He was raised Jewish and celebrates the holidays, but is not religious at all and doesn't believe in God. My mother is a disillusioned Catholic who slowly went liberal during the chaotic sixties.

As far as a living, my mother has worked in hospitals all her life and currently works as a posting secretary at the hospital in which I was born. My father is a sales rep for a company that sells, among other things, air conditioning/fan/ventilation equipment to building contractors. Several years ago, my father owned his own business - which he inherited from my grandfather - that sold solely fan equipment. He should have stopped owning it much earlier...

I've got two brothers, both of which are older than me. One recently moved up to Massachussets, chasing after his significant other. The other lives at home and is trying to gather the finances necessary to go to school so that he can become a teacher. Both of them went to a Magnet high school and should be making much more money than they currently are.

My family is solidly middle class. I will break that mold, either by becoming fabulously rich or stunningly poor. Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter.

As far as religion goes for me, I most certainly have none. The weak religious convictions of my parents gave me the chance to view things from a more objective viewpoint, such that I'm now something between an atheist and an agnostic. I don't reject the possibility of supernatural entities, but see no evidence to suggest that they are there, leading me to think - not believe - that they are not there. If I see evidence that points the other way, so be it.

I just graduated from high school a couple months and, hopefully, I'll be attending community college in the fall. Currently, I'm a broke bum living off of my parents. I know that I have to get a job, but apathy and a disagreement with capitalism prevents this from happening. I'm not sure which one has a greater influence on my decision making.

My interests are few but focused. I'm have an intense desire to know everything there is to know about science, philosophy, and history. I read a lot (mostly sf and fantasy), I write a lot (mostly sf and fantasy), and I role play. In fact, I'm designing an RPG with my "company" right now. If all goes well... it'll mean we've struck up a deal with Satan.

If I were to choose right now what I want to do with the rest of my life, I would probably choose to be a novelist.

That said, I am not prepared to choose what I want to do with the rest of my life.

That about does it. I think I've written far too much.

Hey, that sounds like fun, what does it involve?

i haven't gotten it quite down yet.

what i have structured so far is that it'll be an online pseudo-diary, not unlike the one featured in the korean movies "my sassy girl" or "my tutor friend".
it will take place in several locations, very much based off of my life, in a sort of semi-fictional memoir; the main character will be me but not quite, and be well aware that he's typing away and writing this online.
i haven't yet figured out how exactly i'm going to go about the media. i don't want it entirely text. there are parts of it which i think would work better manga-style, somewhat similar to megatoyko, and there are parts of it which would make more sense as sequences of images.
so.

i'll let you know when i've got it locked down more... are you interested in helping or some such?

further details:

weight: ~160-170lbs. i'm working on slimming down a bit.
age: 20.
eyes/hair: black.

politics: a moderate. now i'm starting to get more and more militant about it. welfare shouldn't subsidize living, but people deserve to earn at least living wage if they pull two full-time jobs. gays ought to have the right to get married, divorce should be harder to get. abortion ed, anti-abortion ed, sex ed, and abstinence ed should all get federal funding. abortions are wrong, but the government has no right to legislate it. i hate political parties with a passion, and believe they are what is killing true democracy.

romance: i recently ended a long-term, serious relationship (seven years) with a girl; it was mutual. towards the end there, we'd actually started planning a future, but recently we realized that we'd have to put such plans on hold for at least a year or two because we'd be separated by continents. so it's not so much an ending of the relationship as a scaling back to dropping exclusivity. it stinks, because we both feel we're the one for each other--we just ran into each other a bit earlier than cosmically planned, so it'll be harder working around it.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Name: Sean (no reason, really)

Residence: Soon to be moving from a cruddy central Alberta ville of 6000 to Edmonton (700 000) to attend the University of Alberta. Will be sharing an apartment avec une femme. Should be fun.

Age: 17

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 190. Yeah, too much. A new leaf will be turned this fall, believe me.

Eyes: Blue to green

Hair: Boring brown.

Ethnic background: Anglo-Irish-Scottish, is what it all comes down to... All by way of either eastern Canada, the USA, or Australia. Oh, and I'm 1/8 Romanian.

Family: I'm an only child, parents have been divorced since I was 2, so I don't know too much about the 'regular' nuclear family dynamic. My dad remarried for a short while, but that fell through.

Both my paternal and maternal grandmothers died from emphysema due to smoking. Those deteriorations were hard to watch, and have given me a probably abnormal aversion and negative reaction to smoking.

I have extended family around Alberta, Saskatchewan, B.C., and Australia. Oh, and one of my cousins is an offshore banker in Bermuda. I find that funny for some reason.

Education: Just finished HS, moving onto Arts at U of A.

Religion: Raised Roman Catholic, but de-brainwashed myself at the age of 15 or so. I still hung on to the ideal of a creator for a while, but now I'm a little more ambivalent to the idea. I'm still very interested in theology and gothicism and such, but I don't place any stock in it. At all. I just try and live my life in a fashion that will give the most joy to others.

Politics: I'm no communist. Not really a capitalist, either. I suppose I'd be labelled a social democrat, most likely. I believe in socialised medicine and energy, but realised that state ownership is inefficient in most cases. I am wary of (thought open to) globalism, and would love to find a way where capitalism can work without exploiting foreign near-slaves.

Interests: The usual, I guess. History, politics, geography... I'm reading a great book on Krakatoa at the moment. Just swell. I also enjoy low-key socialising, though I do love to polka the night away on occasion.

That's about all for now.

My eyes are, under normal lighting conditions, hazel brown. But there are also flecks of green that change the color. I also have a skunk spot on my right eye that has a total lack of normal pigmentation (albino).

While on the subject, I was born blond haired, went fire-engine red, shifted back to blond for a short time, shifted into strawberry blond, and have for years since been a mixture of reds, browns, and blonds.

Full PM-box? Change here!

You see, that's why I could never be gay, or a least I wouldn't be any good at it.

Boris:
My favorite color is teal.

quote:

Drose:
My eyes are, under normal lighting conditions, hazel brown. But there are also flecks of green that change the color

First I would have to run to a mirror to see wht the colour was again, and then the best I could come up with is blue, plain blue.

Yeah, because it is not sun only as it doesn't always change when I have been out in the sun for a long time. My eyes don't go over completely but parts of them do. Think it might be fish...

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

John Adam Schwartz

Born April 28, 1983

Family Background - Youngest child, two older brothers, one older sister, parents still together. Mixed ethnicity, predominantly Irish-French. Last name from father's step-father -- not actually a German jew.

Religion - Catholic, I attend Mass when at home, and don't mind because the girls at church are generally pretty damn hot.

School - Graduated Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, MD in 2001, currently majoring in History at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. My GPA throughout high school and college has stayed at a healthy 2.5 range.

Work - Former lifeguard, ice cream shop worker, Blockbuster slave, Subway sandwich artist, and current intern in DC.

I like pot, mushrooms, and acid. I like girls smaller than me but bigger than a twig. I play rugby but suck at it. I don't drink because it seems to be poor replacement for LSD. And I have pretty pathetic self-esteem issues that lead to me being very shy around people I don't know very well.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Azazel, well the last pic I saw you sitting in bed.. I think it's not bad. You're just naturally big, and that raises your weight a lot. And you also have some muscles too. I predict you have some natural strength too, so in your case I wouldn't look too much how much the weight is.
I don't know if you work out, or have worked out, but you have the type of body that would be relatively easy to modify, and make you a super beast. These are all complements, so don't take this the wrong way.The most important, you look very healthy. I guess losing couple of pounds wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't be too worried.

And the rest of you.. what you made of? Sticks and glass? You guys are super featherweights.. How about eating some real food and getting some exercise? .

Hello.. Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Hi, I'm Jac. I'm probably the RL equivalent of the creepy guy with bug eyes who just stands in the corners and ogles everyone perversely.

Real Name Dave ( last name something French resembling de Molay)

Born May 4, 1970 ( the joyful day known as the Kent State Massacre) in Detroit, MI.

Height 6'2" (one of the shorter men in my family)

Weight 180 pounds (trying to gain 10 to 15 in muscle over the summer as some sort of weird self-experimentation.)

Religion Baptised Catholic. Don't attend church, but can reasonably believe in some bearded guy resembling Santa Claus watching over us all.

School Graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Business Administration. Reattending same school for Master in FA in Professional/technical writing.

Family/Background - Mom and Dad. Three divorces. Three stepparents. Grew up in Wyandotte, MI along the Detroit River. Moved to Detroit in mid-90's. Just moved out after being the recipient of 3 break-ins in 6 months. Live near Ann Arbor now.

Politics - Democrat for life. The Democrats may be shady, but the Republicans are absolutely crooked. I like the give and take on poly when it comes to issues here, but usually lurk cause I'm at work and don't have time to post/rant extensively.

Interests - Reading constantly. Writing. Weightlifting. Basketball. SMAC.

Wow! Freshman 40!

[Just in case you are wondering, some first year students (Freshman) in university gain weight, usually around 10 - 15 pounds, so that's usually referred to as Freshman 10, Freshman 15, etc.]
