Israel is releasing 6000 Palestinian prisoners today as a good will jesture, to show it is trying to negotiate in good faith.

NOW there are protests throughout Palestinian areas demanding ALL prisoners are released-even those who have been proven to have commited murders against Israelis........

Sounds like they are acting very reasonable right?

What I'd like to see is how the opinionmakers in Palestine will interpret the news, and if they'll impact the population. Let's hope that Abu Mazen and his team don't do the same mistake as Arafat did with Barak, that is to always ask more as soon as the other side made a concession.

Well arent you happy that after that good will jesture was done, they are now demanding convicted murderer's are set free? It's not as if the Israeli's are the only ones negotiating in good faith.......

I dont hold out much hope for this peace protest, some Palestinian groups are not part of it, and if they attack, Israel will end up re-occupying the Palestinian lands (which I find abhorrent in itself, as much so as the suicide bombings), and what could be loosely termed "assassinations" against Palestinian leaders etc. The whole thing will fall apart, though I obviously hope it doesnt.

Just saw on TV an Israeli account, they do sadly believe that peace is unlikey. Besides... it's possible for newly given to them cities to become terrorist lairs.

Israel is only releasing several hundred not 6000, and only prisoners that are not tied to terrorist groups. Those terrorists that are linked to terror groups and are responsible of acts of violence will not be released.

Prisoners belonging to the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other rejectionist organizations are not expected to be released, officials said.

Please explain how exactly do you morally equate between checkpoints and searches, and mass-murder of civilians

Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that leader means: Person in command of a group that commits acts of mass murder against innocent civilians!

Just because a first class murderer has a political movement, doesn't make him any less eligible for being a military target.

Chief IDF Prosecutor: Amount of complaints against soldiers in Roadblocks "Alarming"

Chief IDF prosecutor has told the knesset in a special discussion, that the quantity of complaints against IDF soldiers behaviour in the roadblocks is increasing and is alarmingly high. "It should trigger a warning light" he has said about the phenomena.

He recommended that the amount of work and stress on the soldiers be evaluated, tours be made by a special comitte in the roadblocks, and that every six months there will be a report about the number of soldiers whoa re under investigation or prosecution, given to the Knesset.

The manager of special duties dept. in the state advocate's office said that the number of complaints by Palestinains arrested by the ISA (aka GSS "Shin Bet") has risen. The Dept. for control over complaints against ISA has reported 35 complaints in 2000, 65 complaints in 2001, 81 complaints in 2002, and 52 complaints until July of this year. Many of the complanits reportedly deal with over-crowding and lack of hygene in arrest facilities. The reason for that is said to be the huge number of arrestees in IDF actions.

Also noted was the number of complaints against Settlers in the West Bank and Gaza. The highest number was in Hebron with 398 complaints in 2001 and 311 complaints in 2002. In the samaria area 103 complaints were filed in 2001 and 127 last year.

During 2002 there were some 87 complaints of violence and harm to property against settlers. 32 of the cases resulted in conviction. This year so far 35 cases have been submitted before the court and 19 convictions resulted.

IDF Officer Delivers Palestinian Baby
On June 27, 2003, a Palestinian ambulance arrived at a check-point in the Kalkilya area. The check-point was manned by IDF soldiers, including Lieutenant (Reserve) Vadim, a medical officer.

As the ambulance drew to a stop, the paramedics opened the doors, and asked the IDF soldiers to assist them in delivering a baby.

According to Lieut. (Reserve) Vadim, "The head of the baby had emerged when I arrived on the scene. A short while later, the baby was successfully delivered."

Lieut. (Reserve) Vadim cut the baby's umbilical cord, and administered an intravenous infusion to the mother.

The mother and child were then transported by the Palestinian ambulance to a nearby hospital.

in one particular case a local from Hebron filed one against a jew living 622 meters away , ..... he claims the Jew trew stones in his back garden all the time from his bathroomwindow , .....
