I've only heard great things about Selassie... about his abolition of slavery, his modernizing of the ethiopian legal system, his internationalism and pro-globalization stances, etc. all while being supported by the US. isn't he considered a great hero among africans? i know most people leaning towards black nationalism love him.

quote: Mainly it's because he led the only independent Black African country during the age of colonialism. |
is this true? I thought there was an independent west african country (thats not Liberia) but i can't remember which one it was...
but anyway, this is all news to me. are you just calling him a butcher cause he was somewhat right wing? or was he seriously a brutal dictator?

Know what's great about not being white? Being at the airport and hearing, 'Oh, we ain't checkin' all y'all white folk' and then getting your ass pulled over and getting the annual visit from Dr. Jellyfinger just a little too early, all because you had a barette in your hair.
Then Timothy McVeigh walks through security right after me. 'Go on through, all you white folk.'
'They can't find Saddam, but they can find my uncle Rufus anywhere in SoCal!'
