Turn 11 - 3500 BC Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

You got it. I joined today; I'm playing the save today. It doesn't making any sense to me either

3500 BC:

Borders expanded this turn.

Actions taken:
-- Renamed worker to "Mr. Rogers" and politely asked him to Mine.
-- Renamed warrior to "Goodie Hut Gary" and politely asked him to Move East.

-- Adjusted the Research slider to 80%. Pottery still to be discovered in 2 turns and 1gpt now.

Results:
Only thing to note is that what looks like desert two tiles east of Goodie Hut Gary is actually a floodplain with no river bonus(?)

Smoke 'em if you got 'em

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Disease: 2 flood plains = 9%. We're 6th. This means one civ got a jungle or floodplains start.

Could you (or anyone) explain this?

I don't like the size of that desert. Maybe we should turn away from it.

Tired of ads?

I think think it is just a matter of us not seeing the river. One thing I noticed is that the game only tells you what you know about. If the river is not revealed, you will not see the affects of the river. If you look closely to the hill SW of the floodplain the edge of the hill (next to the blackness) some some affects of an adjacent desert/floodplain. It also shows a few blue specks that look like a river. If you also look at the mountain SE of Gary there is a small blue spot in the lower portion of the mountain. I think a river starts on the mountain, runs SE into the middle of the two black tiles, then turns NE past the edge of that hill to that flood plain. It looks like we have a good combination of floodplains for food and hills for production, but disease will be a problem until Medicine.

Also note the border expansion revealed some interesting territory to the west. We can see the river emptying into a lake/coast. The grassland tile also shows the affects of a coast edge. We need to find out if that is the western shore or if it is a lake we can walk around.
