But I'm ot trying to take it away from FBI. Their operation buccaneer still was a success. They did manage to get the few groups that were the most legendary, sophisticated and productive. And they sent a clear message that they are coming after you if you do this kind of stuff. I'm sometimes defending downloaders and all, but I dont defend these guys. They actually do damage to the businesses, even though they don't benefit themselves anything else than 'fame', but still.. the demand is too huge to be destroyed, so going after top releasers is effective. There will be always new groups, new guys trying their wings, but they're not so many in the very top level where they are able to release softwares and OS's before official releasing dates. And it doesn't mean they shouldn't fight it because there will be always new guys. So, FBI had a good day

They already do. They get the majority of the funding. There are just other laws that also need to be upheld as well. You can't ignore the little laws and only focus on the big laws... that's silly. And the manpower that works in piracy can't be easily transfered to corporate criminals.

So just because catching the criminals is difficult it must automatically follow that they shouldn't be pursued? You may as well legalise it in that case.

Since when is "everybody does it" a viable defense of any crime?

We should! We should be putting the people in jail who copy software and sell it. Not leechers... and certainly not at the expense of investigating people who actually COST me money.

You do realize that copyright laws don't just apply to people who sell software. Distribution can be free as well.

As for the second part, WHY are you against this successful arrest again? Do you have any proof that this came at the expense of investigating corporate criminals? Basically: Put up or shut up.

Sava you really need to think before you post. If you buy software, you are paying an additional cost foisted on legitamate buyers to cover the cost of those who COULD pay for it but don't because they pirate it.

I'm not against this arrest. I'm against at wasting resources on pseudo-criminals. My proof is simple. The amount of money and manpower the justice dept. has is finite. The amount of money spent on everything is proportional to the whole. More in one area means less in another. It's a simple math concept. Hopefully, you can understand it.

Oh please... that's just another excuse for higher prices. If I weren't going to buy say, "Age of Mythology" and I still downloaded it, they aren't losing any money whatsoever. Losing money means you would have gotten it regardless of piracy. And that simply isn't the case. Every game I've ever downloaded is a game I wouldn't have bought. Obviously, my experiences can't speak for everyone, but as with most college students, I don't have much money to spend on computer games. To say that my "piracy" causes these companies to lose money is flagrantly false... and a baseless assertion at best.

It's an excuse created to cover for poor sales. The RIAA does it also. It's a crock, untrue, and only utter morons believe it.

Ah, so you don't think we should be going after these criminals? Well then change the law. There are federal copyright laws and there are people that enforce them. Just because the one part of the Department of Justice seems to be better at enforcing the law than another part is kinda silly to get all upset about. There could be reasons that this one part has more success (mostly being on who they are dealing with it).

The law has gotta be enforced. You'd probably still go on a tear if the corporate crimes division got 20 times more funding than the copyright division, but someone's gotta enforce each law.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I'm saying my real opinion. Stop laughing! Try thinking deeper. Not deeper into your ass, but deeper into your mind, into your conscience. You, selfish trolls, would you (OK, i know that Azazel would) risk your lifes to make millions of people happier? And he did. Dont write trolling answer immidiately after reading this post, try to think deeper.

I respect those pirates more than Bill Gates. Bill Gates creates software due to his greedyness, but those pirates create their software (cracks) because of humanism.

Put an end to popups!

Muxec, you remain as idiotic as ever. You should actually know what was Bill Gates thinking some 20 years ago. It's thanks to HIM, largely, why so many people now have computers and while it's not a rare thing. Besides, he doesn't make software anymore. he did right things at the right time, so he does now make money. People such as you, who can hardly invent anything, will not get more than 200 bucks a month no matter how hard you try.

And as you grow up you should understand that making other people happier is a good thing.
