More CNN Polls... Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

quote:
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/wolf.blitzer.reports/

Did President Bush make an honest mistake in his State of the Union address, or did he deliberately mislead the American public about Iraq?

-Honest Mistake
-Deliberately Misled

Honest mistake 21% 2751 votes

Deliberately misled the public 79% 10103 votes

Total: 12854 votes

Again, an unscientific poll. But nevertheless, relevant.

Silly Sava, you should know by now it's perfectly acceptable for a President to lie about matters of national security in order to send our military off to kill and get killed halfway across the world, costing $billions.

But he'd better not lie about a blowjob, dammit!

It's a fairer barometer of world opinion than it is of US opinion. Since I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who voted "deliberately misled" don't have voting rights in the US I don't think it'll have any effect on the election. Barring a miracle Bush is going to walk it.

Except some brown-nosers won't care if Bush lied or not. *coughcough*

And Clinton lied, but had high approval. Still lied, though.

Oh, and the Zogby poll likely doesn't reflect the latest information coming out, either. Blitzer's polls are based on the news of the day.

Yeah it sucks, but, in the end the war was/is popular so what good is it going to do the Dems? Will people begin to think of Bush as dishonest? I doubt it.

White House 'lied about Saddam threat'

Julian Borger in Washington
Thursday July 10, 2003
The Guardian

A former US intelligence official who served under the Bush administration in the build-up to the Iraq war accused the White House yesterday of lying about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein.
The claims came as the Bush administration was fighting to shore up its credibility among a series of anonymous government leaks over its distortion of US intelligence to manufacture a case against Saddam.

This was the first time an administration official has put his name to specific claims. The whistleblower, Gregory Thielmann, served as a director in the state department's bureau of intelligence until his retirement in September, and had access to the classified reports which formed the basis for the US case against Saddam, spelled out by President Bush and his aides.

Mr Thielmannn said yesterday: "I believe the Bush administration did not provide an accurate picture to the American people of the military threat posed by Iraq."

He conceded that part of the problem lay with US intelligence, but added: "Most of it lies with the way senior officials misused the information they were provided."

I'm not fond of the Guardian, but American media won't report such a story.

Nor do you, however. It's all speculation, and pretty pointless speculation at that.

You'd probably get more reliable data on the opinion of the American public if you just dialed 100 random names from the phone book and asked the people "Do you plan to vote for Dubya in the next election?"

Internet polls are completely untrustworthy to measure anything except what visitiors to a particular website think. If you took the same poll on www.foxnews.com you'd likely get complely different results. In either case the internet poll would be completely unreliable to inform you about the opinions of the general public.

And you know this because of your:

B) being present at the White House when the speech was written?
C) certain knowledge that a politician would never lie?
D) lips being firmly planted on Dubya's tush?
