Depends on how you play, high stats in 2E will get you to 9th level fairly quick, after that its all high level campaigning anyway.

I'll make my question a little more specific.

You cannot cast ninth level spells unless you are at least seventeenth level; that is why I decided to limit myself to three non-wizard levels. The way my character is shaping up in my head, I want more than three non-wizard levels, but I don't want to sacrifice ninth level spells if there is a hard cap at twentieth level.

So is there a hard cap at twentieth, or do the rules we're playing allow for higher than that?

A list of who's playing and what they are,
A list of the time zone for everyone
An idea of how the thing's going to be played - e-mail, on 'poly, various messaging services etc.

peopledesigned theres to start at waterdeep but we could elsewhere

we were going to play on threads here, one game thread where yuo post in character, one out of game thread where people can post

we have a lot of people who have never played for

Starting at Waterdeep is FINE by me... what happened to the d-roll-script thing that kept records? That would be a mighty useful tool.

I suggest RIGHT NOW that the game is either :

Completly free - each character can go anywhere on their own (chaos) - it doesn't matter if some people don't post for a week.

or

Virtual Party - the characters go around together - if someone doesn't post what they are doing, then it is assumed that they are there, but looking out the window, tying their shoelaces, running in terror, studying the stonework or whatever - the game will go on, but the "missing" characters are inactive - this also means they'd get no XPs and also be in no danger.

or

We only play when EVERYONE is online. (not likely)

Guess which one I'd prefer.

I only have one problem.... I'm lacking a few crucial reference tables (guess who never bought the proper rulesets) does anyone have a good link to DL the tables? (How heavy is a Halberd? When does a Cleric get 3 attacks?)

Anyway, I have a nice opening encounter lined up.

As I just said in the other thread, I'll be prepared to run an adventure for some characters, while the others will have to join other parties in the same place at the same time. At the end of the first round of quests people can form new parties, maybe new DMs etc. I plan a nice little "starter quest" for about 4-6 players going levels 1-4 ish. How does that sound?

post a call out, see how many people you get, if it is too many, than another party can form (a little later)

note that some characters are not completed (usually becuase the players did not know how to complete them)

OK, everyone that wants to play should fill in this character sheet. It will then automatically calculate all the saves, modifiers, hit points, AC, hit rolls and EVERYTHING and I can keep track of it all. Latest version of Adobe Acrobat is needed, but we all have that don't we?

Interested players have 48 hours to get one of these back to me by posting in the thread or e-mail.
