Dave: I meant the water west of the city site, not south of it. Obviously the water south of it is saltwater. If a city has access to both freshwater and saltwater, it uses the freshwater for growth purposes.
Some demographic analysis:
--We aren't first in land area. Since it's impossible to have more than 2100 tiles with just one city at this stage in the game, it probably means someone popped a settler from a hut and has already founded a city with it.
Now, as to who it could be... Izzardia is the only expansionist tribe, so it's likely they're the ones who popped the settler. Could also be the Latinos, as they have the highest score, in spite of a size-1 capital.
--Also, someone must have linked up a lux resource. Evidence: we're second in Annual Income (dependent on luxes linked up) and Approval Rating (dependent on ratio of happy, content, and unhappy citizens). Who, I have no idea. Someone other than Tabemono or Al-Sahaf.
