Have you ever..... Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

...come across a phrase/word on TV, books, or on-line which you then found had worked its way into your normal vocabulary?

I have. A few weeks after rereading The Moon is a Harsh Mistress I found myself using the Loonie phrase "Ja Da" in place of "yes".

All I can say is never read A Clockwork Orange and anything by James Joyce in the same week. If your brain assimilates vocabulary no one will ever be able to understand you ever again.

It's difficult to say. I often find new words popping into my vocabulary, and I usually don't know where they came from.

A Long Island woman in my office always, when telling stories, uses the phrase "Well, P.S...." before going on a slight tangent or explaining a detail. Now other people have started to use it, including the company president. I am resisting as much as possible! Must...not...give...in...!

living in wales for a year hasn't changed my accent at all (thank christ!), but i have picked up a few expressions, the most obvious of these is saying 'is it?' instead of 'really?' or 'ah, ok'.
