What to do with engineering and RP??

OK - GoW has declared war on RP. ND is in on it too.

RP desperately wants engineering - but cannot - or does not want to pay the 100 gold up front and the 5gpt. They have numerous ideas that involve Lego paying us (which I am not keen on - I know how Lego feels about them and do not want to put Lego out anymore), or some future payment. Which in my mind - could be in serious doubt.

The - our good friends at GoW would like to pay us for not trading engineering. 40 gold now, another free tech, and another free lux for a 20 turn period.

I like the latter. Any thoughts? I am sitting on the save until 8 am edt tomorrow morning. I have done all the moves but the RP deal.

If we're taking GoW up on their spying request we should go this route too. GoW's tech, gold and lux offer is better in the long run for us anyhow. We'll have essentially 60 free turns of luxuries, two free techs, and 40 gold for spying on RP and not trading with them something they can't afford to pay us for anyway. If we're careful (i.e. going into anarchy as soon as we gift the cities to GS) then the upfront loss of 100 gold and 5 gpt is something we can live with.

Here's an interesting thought to go with this...since we're already spying for GoW, how about offering our services to Neu Demogyptica as well?

The other consideration in this is that any future payment from RP is seriously in doubt, given their opponents.

Also - talked quickly with vondrack. He advised to go this route as well - but acknowledged they are not fans in the first place. And - there had been no talk of support for RP as RP was suggesting. So any of the odd deals BigFree was suggesting involving Lego would not fly.

Rhoth - regarding asking ND - yes - we could. They and GoW may be close here, but it may very well work.

If RP can not hold up their end of the deal then the deal is off and I say we go with the GoW offer to at least get something out of it.
