Anyway, going back to something that doesn't deal with personal insults... Linux will in not overtake Windows in 5 years. That's like [monkspider] when he says communism will destroy capitalism all around the world in 20 years. It's just silly.

The menu costs for one would be extrodinary. A majority of applications are Windows only. You'd have to get the whole industry to change over.

The only way for that to happen is if Microsoft gets broken up (not likely) or Linux comes out with amazing breakthroughs in OS and is able to run Windows' programming without a glitch.

Actually, Ximian Desktop (a Unix GUI), has an interface that is very much like that of Mac OS X; as far as I know it has a similar dock and menu features.

I don't think Apple is as agressive as some people think. I think they're just trying to protect some of their assets, as M$ and other tech companies are also guilty as charged.

i hate lindows. the point of gnu/linux is not to make a windows desktop on atop of a linux kernel...

neither is linux truly ready for the desktop or for other people.

then again, it could just be that i want my linux to be a lot more fun and a lot less fisher-price/neutered...

I know about the monkspider rhetoric... it makes me laugh... it is nonsense... just like the Linux will overcome Windows argument...
