my comeback Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

it´s 3 months since i quit playing civ2. i got into AC first and into Europa Universalis later. both are great games and i really love them, but now it´s time for a comeback.
there have been accusiations i´m sitting on my points which is ridiculous - how can someone gain points while taking a break from league? there´s nothing to admit since everyone is fighting for himself and no one does have to play the no1 to get into the first spot.
as for you kaak, actually i´m playing a few training/civfanatics games because i´m feeling a bit rusty but i´m getting into it again. nothing has changed except for kuja having an unbelieveable winning streak which is more than suspicious - i still have to risk hundreds of points each game because only a few players have made it over 2000. how sad, but now you´ll get a chance to gain some from me

i played 6 training games yesterday against a-team, spartan and jes of which i won 5. damn, why the hell did i train???? this must have been at least 100 points. however, i feel competent enough now again and look
forward for some great league games. folks get some points, the 2000-points-club needs you.

Well we did play two games that were small map games and thus hard for me too take seriously and were over and done with for what ever reason in 10 mins. Certainly nothing to brag about.
I challenge you to a game for league as we have compatable points.
However, I suggest that starting positions dont decide the winner.
Thus, I suggest we get a third party to build a random board (medium) with 5 billion, wet and your temperate and place the two civs (english for me and romans for you) in compatable locations.
This means, equal number of huts near first settler. Equal number of special resources. Broken terrign for movement. Spread out enough to prevent an early over run. Each side with enough land to colonize and find huts on. And equal rivers. With just some small editing this will produce a very fair board.

i already accepted your challenge. where have you been? i was waiting for 2 hours but you didn´t show up after your reboot. as for the two games we played this week: you hosted one on your settings and i hosted one on mine - you withdraw from both games. those were only training games, but i won both though.

Ah, it's always so amusing to watch the lesser players argue amongst themselves. Especially when it's WG and A-Team trying to assert who is the better. I can only laugh. I don't know which one I hate more.

What kind of game is this? you might as well play on a premade map. What fun is a game if there is no underdog position, no difference in start location, no difference in specials or huts? True, you want to play a game that is fair, but at all cost? i know this didnt work for CFL for sure.

Play the darn game and have fun! JUST HAVE FUN! stop complaining, play and let history decide where you end up.

my 2 cents

W0ke, = does not mean that it is not different. In our past, our computers have set up riddiculas games which almost always have been decided by starting position. The board would not be revealed to me or weird god. What fun is it to win a game only to find out later that everything you have done was pointless because the computer gave you the game before you started. There is no sense of accomplishment there and you wasted time. What fun is it if the computer set you up for failure before you started. I call that frustrating and pointless.
In 1 of those games the other day, I was stuck on the very bottom of the world behind 4 rungs of hills and forests. By the time i climbed out, he had found 4 horseman and 2 citys from huts and me 1 archer and no other huts in sight. Is this a victory to brag about? Is there any sense of bettering your opposition? Of course not.
And we have had so many starts like this that it is pointless to try to get our computers to set up a fair board. Maybe we can get cavebear to do it. He always likes to talk about his fair maps.

w0ke is right, no one should premade a map, none of us should know if he´s an underdog or not (huts will screw that up anyway). let´s simply have what you always wanted: a game on your ever changing weird settings (just let me know what they are before), but let it still be a regular game. you host if you like, just give me my romans.

a-team, it´s time to teach you a lesson, time to kick your ass without whining about huts, without damning the map and without crying about any other pointless reason why there is no a-team win again. you are always waiting for a perfect game but you forget that civ is more an adapting on situations, a micormanaging for the one trade more than your opponent and a fighting in small steps. realize that you are still my *****y pupil, stop the whining and set up a game.
