Well I am finally back and the forums seems very confusing. What is happening now, please give the cliff notes version. I suggest whoever has bveen making military decisions continue to make them. I have quite a bit of work to do here, but can provide advice during the short term.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Basically we have declared war on RP. Unfortunatly, last turn (30bc), we were going to move on the mountain N-N-NE of Toledo but they moved an 8 stack of pikes and MI's onto the mountain. So basically we have 14 riders surrouding Bilbao now.

Good, one thing bothers me though. Rp positioning indicates there could be a spy among the allies. We'll know more if nd has virtually no resistance(indicating this force was meant for the west. No matter, we are in a strong position.

Tired of ads?

Also could someone point to the save I can't find it. My gut analysis is this(subject to change). IGNORE that force. Go for destruction of cities. If the opportunity presents itself got for toledo. But bilboa is of little value. Attack it with the e most forces, but move our rider force from strong place to strong place, while threatening them. 1st toldeo and if they move the force into it, then attack south, I know that city isn't defended, and pillage as we go.

Hey, that's pretty much the same strategy I suggested and they told me I was a raving lunatic. Now maybe they'll rethink the whole "take out the little cities first" concept since someone else is suggesting the same thing.

I had suggested we ignore Bilbao as it is useless to them and useless to us. Head straight for Toledo, if the big nasty group of Pikemen get in the way, go around them. If the Pikemen are no longer visible, they are most likely in Toledo so we skip Toledo, burn its connecting road so the Pikemen can't follow us and head for the next big city.

Ghengis I agree with you largely and would have moved our troops alittle differently had I been here. However, given the current situation we can attack bilboa this turn and use its road to enter the toledo zone. Here is my general idea. We move about 1/2 of our forces to the jungle n or ne of the mountain we originally planned. The forces that would have ended their turn on bilboa attack bilboa and raze it. It is a hill. If their stack has moved east, a good chance, we move troops that would have been ended in biloa to that square, a hill. This forces them to make a decision. They might attack but with a hill defense and retreat ability i suspect we loose at most 1 or 2 units. They will also have to decide whether to pursue the eastern force. If they do that it will allow us to utilize the road network. If they decide to confront the forces at bilboa they will be tied down and we can have toldeo. They could split their forces and might keep forces on the mountain e of bilboa and also move a pike to the hill to the sw with a road. But with such splitting they will reduce their forces to military insignificance, espescially if they pursue the east force. Of course all depends on the distribution of forces in the area. Regardless of what they do within 2 turns we will be in pillaging and siezing mode. I do ahve an important question"What is the terrain of a pillaged city. Does it become grass land for road purposes or does it stay its original, I know it keeps the road. This is important because if it becomes grassland our forces that can reach bilboa in 2 moves(from the ships) can keep going onto the road and thus save us alot of hassle.

Full PM-box? Change here!

It stays the original base terrain that it was, a hill, grassland, plains, desert, or mountain. Yes, it does keep typical improvements.

We can't go around the RP stack as it is surrounded by jungle. I think our course of action is the best not because it nets us Bilbao but by taking bilbao we are in a position to threaten both Toledo AND NewMadrid simultaneously and will force RP to have to choose which to defend.

In the "Western Front", ND repored seeing a stack of 2 pikes and 6 med infs (something like that) out in the open.

No we don't, we allow Roleplay to position all their defensive stacks along the narrow border between Bilbao and their empire. Thus we are cutting ourselves off from their juicy empire and making it more difficult to get by the Pike stack without engaging it.

We have THREE MOVEMENT Riders. We need to be utilizing their mobility to strike RP and move out of harms way, not cornering ourselves into the Bilbao pocket.
