That's because everyone who can spell Mornington Crescent is a genius! (relatively speaking)

South Kensington tempts me to pop into a few museums while I'm in the neighbourhood, but this game seems to have wound itself up to a breakneck speed and I don't think I've got the time to browse. This may be because a certain dope whacked the LV up by moving south of Father Thames on his last move, but I'm not pointing any fingers. Mainly because I'm holding on for dear life to one of those stupid straps they have hanging from the overhead railings. I nearly dropped a green token!

Fortunately, the green token has bounced onto my board and now covers Tower Hill, effectively blocking all anticlockwise movement on the Circle Line. Taking this into consideration, I shall half-straddle the Bakerloo Line and use the gained momentum to lift me onto Sudbury Hill and roll down to South Harrow.

Let's see Wombat try to screw up the game after this:

Mornington Crescent.

Hee hee hee! Right into my pocket! Right into my pocket! I keep telling you, everyone should pay closer attention to the opportunity grid. The opportunity grid is what cost Mark Hall his title in 2001 (At least it wasn't like in 1999, when the title cost Buckhampton, what, 10,000£? 5,000£? We may never know the sum but we know the shame.)

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Well congratulations, but I only have myself to blame. In a rush this morning, I failed to notice that I had the opportunity grid upside down!

Although there is still a lot of time in which to analyse the key moments of that last game, shall we start proposing rule sets for our next foray down the Bank escalators? I am in favour of a looser interpretation and suggest the no holds barred Moriarty variation:
The Thames barrier is removed from consideration and the prevailing wind is initially a north-easterly from Dollis Hill to Green Park. Definitely one to ensure you pay attention to the tidal currents and in which judicious use of the elements will prove advantageous.

I am not absolutely set upon using this variation, but it is a personal favourite so if my rivals consider this to swing too strongly in my favour then I will gladly discuss a compromise interpretation. But no more vanilla!

Tired of ads?

duke o' york: I'd be fine with those rules, but could I propose that we'll play with the Serbian Exception in force? (The one about triangular movements along the Hammersmith - Barking line counting double as regarding the red counter placement.)

It's just that Serbian exception is so rarely used (I guess some players just don't like any rules changes as regarding the red counter placement) and the way I see it it fits in perfectly with your proposed rules.

All right!

Who fancies taking the opening turn then?
Fulham Broadway is a popular gambit in this rule set, but many others prefer Dagenham Heathway. Let it be the choice of whoever is bold enough to step forward.

Note - bus routes cannot be used at any time, and the DLR is only available in off-peak hours.

When it comes to this thread, I feel like Albert Speer. A board game which I've NEVER-ever heard of, yet dozens of people are talking about the variations and rule-sets to it, so it must be a really popular game...

Would anyone care to give me a link to the rules of this game?

I'm going to, instead of advanging from the north, and moving steadily towards the goal, simply place myself right by it. And in one of the stronger fields, as well. I've been pondering this as an opening move for quite some time, and seeng as Poly mornington crescents aren't official and recorded, I feel as though I have nothing to lose.

Yes, Mr Lith. You are most fortunate that I am on a sabbatical from my MC umpiring, although for all those in the West Yorkshire area, I shall be back in my chair at the Alwoodley MC Forum on 27th September. Ought to be a jolly good night.

Arsenal, eh? I'm tempted to take us to Tottenham Court Road to visit their football rivals, but in support of a wonderful cause, we're off to Wimbledon Park to cheer on AFC Wimbledon, the phoenix from the money-grabbing ashes of Wimbledon FC.

This sight-seeing necessitates a strile of 24 degrees clockwise, which is entirely possible at this stage, but unfortunately locks the Becks coefficient for the next three turns. Oops.

Pshaw!
I popped in to see the progress over the weekend and the only new post was molly's somewhat direct rebuttal of the flamer. Thinking it a little rude to jump in straight away, I decided to wait until a suitable number had made their moves before diving back into the fray.
Some young players have no sense of MC etiqueete these days, and if you don't teach them the correct procedures when young then who knows what mayhem may be caused in championship games of the future!

As a fan of the more traditional style, then I shall try to initiate a cascade of the religious sort with Canons Park, and grab myself some amber tokens. I think that I shall have to introduce my tokens into play earlier than in the last game because there's nothing more annoying than finding yourself with a huge hoard of potentially match-winning tokens when the game has already finished.
Not sure how long this cascade could go on for, but I shall leave you to calculate the LV-Becks coefficient ratio at each turn and thence work out how wise it would be to continue. The rewards are better the longer it goes, but of course the risks are higher too, as someone could find themself with the correct ratio to break the Islington cordon and deposit themselves directly at MC.

Although tempted by a tenuous connection by claiming that Jesus' teachings may lead you to Shepherd's Bush (Hammersmith & City, of course), I shall instead pop over to St James's Park. The spreadsheet I set up to keep an eye on the inverse of the quotient fluctuations seems to be having trouble with Cerberus' move and so I shall just give up and continue on pencil and paper. Far more of a traditional guide, and more accurate too (if my sums are all correct). The Becks lies at -4.78 at St James's, and with the LV as it is then that puts Wombat in squonk (sorry!).
