You are not missing a thing, the joke was mildly funny and was not offensive in the least.

Spot on. Unfortunately, most people have no real appreciation of the complexity of software they take for granted, and no comprehension of the impact on design, game balance and code stability that their great idea would have.

It only takes a second to have an idea. Implementing it is another matter. The customer should always be consulted, but is not always right.

Because gaming is a mass-market, the price of games software is incredibly cheap compared to specialist-niche industry software which costs thousands. People might complain about fifty bucks or even thirty bucks, but what other entertainment is so cheap? How many hours of film, concerts, subscription TV or sports events can you get for that much money? How many hours have civvers got for their money?

For the price of a Civ upgrade, you can get about one game of top-flight English football, or watch maybe four movies at the cinema, or see two named bands. In none of these do you get much chance to influence events and your enjoyment.

It's great to have ideas, aspirations and feedback, but people need to be realistic too.

I'd have to say that all these people work hard to make all this entertainment I have to say that most of them want to keep people occupied and bring a little fun into their lives. Even the most best of business men find some way of entertainment. Golf, chess, etc... all of them are appealing to some people. Those people who like to think about what there doing.

I bet I'm being very boring at the moment so I won't go on.

See you around.
