I think my eating habits will improve once I am looking after myself. If there is food around I will tend to eat more, and my mother does like filling me full of big meals...that would go if I was on my own. Besides, I'll have to start the swimming again at some point...

Your body is quite capable of metabolising carbohydrate, in fact, carbohydrate is the preferable metabolite for all organs...surely tricking your body into thinking it is starving and making vital organs function of ketone bodies is far from healthy? By my reckoning, your body would cut it's metabolic rate considerably when this happens.
