Plenty of people come to this country with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a desire to better themselves. I actually admire those people in the article for having the fortitude to move to another country if they feel it is the best for them. It's the people that stay here and continue to whine about how they would be so much better off in another country but do nothing about it that annoy me.

WooHoo! We agree on that totally! Hence why we have dumbass, normal, and smart voters in every election. The trick is trying to get the dumbass politicians out early in the process. It actually works pretty well on a national level (with a few notable exceptions in Congress).

The trick for the politician is to try to address a broad constituentcy while staying within the parameters of the philosophy that got them elected.

In this debate, the question boils down to has GW done this. IMO he has covered a lot of ground with a lot of groups and stayed within the philosophy that got him elected. As long as America buys into that philosophy it will be hard to unseat him. But...that is why we vote every 4 years; just so we can make sure.
