I don't usually participate in computer-related discussions (probably why I choose "Yes") but I'd rather judge them based on what they say rather than what they call it.

Then again, I will give you that a post titled "M$ sux0rz" is more likely to be followed up with "WHU AGRES WITH ME!!1" than, say, "Microsoft is a competition-strangling business"

I'm not a left-winger, but while I don't usually use that expression, I do agree somewhat with the thoughts behind it (a greedy, monopoly-loving, capitalist company). Perhaps if so many Microsoft products didn't crash on me so much I'd have a different perspective.

It's not like I suddenly start ignoring people who use cute nicknames for other posters (Mr Not-So-Fun, or loincrap, or King Clitoris, or whatever), I only really start to ignore them when that's their one trick and they're sticking to it ("lol, u r loincrap, roflmao"). The same applies to M$ ("lol, M$ r gay, roflmao").

Since I give them more of my $ than most people here (MSDN Universal, plus SQL Server 2000 licenses, blah blah blah), I don't see why it makes much difference if I refer to them as MS or M$.

In fact, familiarity with the CAL and volume licensing system(s), tends to make me more commercially antagonistic to M$, even though I use a huge number of their products and sell those installations to others. It's like good ol' used car sales hucksterism. I can just hear ol' Cal Worthington with his dog Spot (or is that Steve? ) saying " justTWOhunderdninedyninedollersaclientlicenseandwe
