Went west with the warrior. It seems to be only a small peninsula. Next turn will make this clear.

EDIT: Renamed the capital guard Launcelot. Hope that's ok with everyone.

Launcelot's fine... I was actually playing the save since I hadn't noticed Sir Ralph was taking care of it. IMHO, it does look like there's nothing up there. Still, in the future, an isthmus city could shave a turn for our ships.

Didn't we determine the water south of the isthmus is fresh? I don't remember off hand if you can move a ship through a city into fresh water, but if so it, coupled with a southern "lock" city, could give us a nice little speed bump.

Yes, ships can move through fresh water. I had an interesting map one game were the placement of two cities on a freshwater sea allowed me to save too many turns to count on ship movement.

Hell, I have an interesting screenshot to prove it...



Sir Raplh, I don't know if we can avoid this from happening. A lot of it was my fault for not refreshing the forum page and noticing the turn thread. Unless you can hang on in #apolyton all day as I have a bad habit of doing, we can't.

As a general rule, we'll say, double check the save game thread a few times before sending it yourself.

LOL, excellent shot, Octavian. Looking well ahead of ourselves, that could be a very useful safe harbor for ships. I've used seas that way before, too, but as far as I could remember, they were large enough to be salty (judging by ability to build harbors, etc.).
