CDG Out of the Game! Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

CDG has decided to leave the game. They realize they have no chance.

So after a bunch of diplomatic wrastling, they are going to donate their 3 cities to us, and all their techs and gold to CFC on the promise that we will destroy GCA eventually.

YEEHAW!!!

The real satisfaction comes when we march our troops into CDG's last city and take it for ourselves. That will be the chokepoint city. So, technically, we will be the ones to push them from the game. Or we can see if they want to stay around long enough to get the 'free' tech at the next era. Heck, lets offer to play their truns for them.

Boo!

We had such a good plan, and CDG has denied it to us!

Boo!

Seriously now, are there any rules against this at the UN? GCA is going to get shafted pretty royally just for being a successful aggressor.

"Eventually" - when ? 2004AD ?

But getting 3 cities 'free' is great. Even if we don't like the location of the cities, we can always build a settler and move them somewhere. Also, we control the chokepoint to the West.

Another good thing about getting the cities without going into battle is we will maintain our 'good guys" and "builders" image.

There are a few things we have to consider moving forward after getting the free cities :

1. We should quickly negotiate a border agreement with GCA. This is in line with our "good guys" image, and at the same time divert GCA attention back to their war with CFC.

2. We should quickly absorb the land between GCA and the CDG chokepoint. Clean up jungle. Built forbidden palace. Move to Republic asap. Once we get the economy growing, becoming technology advance, GCA will be irrelevant in the long run.

Just my 2 Yen worth

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

CDG will be out of game as soon as we can get to their last city and take it. Maybe we can talk them into building a settler or a worker or a catapult, before we get there.

Interesting idea, rush. It may be time to try to revise the AltSp since circumstances have taken it's accomplishment beyond our reach.

At the moment we have an agreement reached with CDG to take down GCA, but in our own time. We could certainly establish a border with them and develop for some time if we like. However this means we run two risks:

1. CFC may die at GCA's hands - as good as it may be to have CFC a weak player I don't know if we want them killed just yet, and this will strengthen GCA.

2. If we wait for a time then GCA will be able to trigger their GA with War Elephants. I would prefer to attack GCA BEFORE they get these, if at all possible.

What I would lean towards right now is establishing a border with GCA and tying it in to the NAP we have with them. When that next expires (or maybe the time after), we should have Republic and be ready for the attack and our GA. It is my hope we can just shift the AltSp to deal with GCA, and then do all we said we can.

A summary was posted on MZO because Poly was down, but I need to fully explain what happened here:

After much negotiations, Poly shall receive: all CDG cities (we have to capture Shahar...).

CFC shall receive: All CDG tech and gold.

(funny thing is, CDG send us half of their gold. Doubt CFC has any idea!)

We both promised CDG that we would work together to destroy GCA, which was what we had in mind anyhow. Kentonio confirmed publicly that there is no requirement for a Declaration of War NOW, it would be between CFC and us to determine that.

CFC also promised that the techs they received would not interfere with our tech trade agreement (Const for CoL + Philo).

CFC and CDG promised to keep our agreement secret, and we should as well. GCA does not need to know the details about how we received these cities.

GCA will know very soon that we have "captured" 2 CDG cities. They may/may not do an investigation of new cities. If they did, they will realise that we do not have any units inside.

I hope our FAM has prepared "chic notes" on how to respond to GCA questions on the new cities.

Notes on how to respond to GCA regarding the cities we were given:

1) They gave them to us. Pretty cool, huh? We completely lucked out on that one!

2) We were going to conquer them anyhow, so I guess they saved us the trouble.

3) We're going to nab their last city and take them out. Good riddance to CDG!

4) Why did they give them to us? They were probably so p!ssed at you guys they were looking for a way to get back at you. Guess this is their form of revenge.

5) We oughta agree to a border now, don't you think?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Great, that's one less burden in my life (I was technically their ambassador but they always ignored my PMs... I've been more of the ambassador to GCN as of late...)

Well, they got what they deserved. People take note: CDG is the prime example of how NOT to play a demogame.

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

btw, I had a chat with Lucky this afternoon, as usually I keep forgetting to log ICQ chats

anyway, he asked about the cities, he said he was "paranoid" and though it was a plan for us to hold them and later gift them back. I told him that no, that CDG had decided to quit and had donated them to us.

He also asked about how powerful our army was, I tried to tell him that the powergraph is influenced by cities, etc. etc. bla bla bla. He says he is still paranoid. Next time I'm going to tell him if he wants me to start a poll to disband our army here.
