Old people are whiny little kids Inflate your Upload Space

Some of them really are...

I was watching this documentary about retirement place (a HUGE one) in Florida.. It was just like in high school.
There were popular folks, and then the not so popular, and they bashed each other like little kids, talking behind their backs and back stabbing each other all the time.
Rumours spreading, nasty ones too! It made many old peoples lives miserable, you could just see it. THey just didn't get along at all. They had clubs, but you didn't get in if you weren't thought as 'cool'. Sure, you could try and come, but they'd smoke you right out by making you feel like crap and failure. If you couldn't dance good because you were too old and bones aching, then you suck and you are being laughed at. It was CRUEL!

Kind of funny, I thought when you're old, you'd want some peace and enjoy your life a bit... but that was not fun from what I saw for most people. Someones wives or husbands died (like they do in those places all the time) but they were still outkasts.. but now alone.

Remind me to never go to a place like that. And if my kids send me there, I'll just have to whoop their butts.

Also one of my buddies was working in hospital for old folks and he was pissed all the time because they were torturing him. Now he's a good and decent kid, a class act. But some of the oldies just tried to make his life miserable by talking him down all the time. Nothing was good for them, nothing. Coffee time was the worst he told me.. 'no, my spoon must be on the left side, how many times have I told you this you little punk? now go make me a new one!' 'NO NO NO! My sugar must be on the left AND the right side, go back and do it again'. It wasn't good enough to apologize, and correct the error and smile, oh no.. that would just ruin their days. His favourite was 'this is too HOT!', and it was impossible for some of them to wait a bit to cool down.. and at the same time others complained it was too cold! And some of them really weren't nice about it either. Nothing but a bunch of bitter old losers!

When I grow old and if I get grumpy like that, I hope the nurse or whatever hits me in the head few times. Or maybe nude wrestles me if shes a hottie. If the matress is good enough, maybe I can body suplex her too.

Oh.. and they pee in their pants too, like little kids.

Yup.

I work in an old folks home as the front-desk worker guy sometimes on weekends.

It is just like high school, only they all have much worse memories.

One lady in particularly always fights with her "best friend", comes up to my desk and asks if she can sit somewhere else for dinner because she "can't stand to be around Theresa". I say she can sit anywhere she wants. So she slowly walks back with her walker...and sat rat back down with Theresa and they talked and laughed like normal.

She literally has a two minute memory. She'll ask me every 5 mins or so if it's "okay to sit down here a bit more...it's too early to turn in." and "This 2-3-9 on my keychain, is that my room number??"

Geriatric Island
Geriatric Casino
Older Brother
Meet the Old Fart
The Real World: Old People on Parade
The Old Rich Bachelor with a Bunch of Hot Young Chicks

I'd watch anyone of them

And if the time comes and I have to put my mom on one of those things (not in few decades at least thank god), I'm making sure they are nice to her too.. I just couldn't live with her being miserable because bunch of kids with wrinkels bashes for no good reason what so ever. Damn, I'll make them take the words back and beat the living **** out of them. I don't care if they're old, it's not my fault I'm younger
Nah.. but I'll make sure there's some good folks in it, because odds are I'm paying big money for it anyway.
And then I'm coming to see her all the time, brining gifts and taking her out to my and missus house, and then dress up real nice and take her dancing too. Because I'm such a good son. And I'm starting to hate old people!

I remember one lady who wasn't a whiny kid;

Mrs C lived in a tiny Georgian 2 up-2 down house. No exlectricity. Ironed and washed until 3 months before she died - of bowel cancer. No medication, no visits from relatives, fvck all help expect my Mom used to pop round to get her shopping.

Like to see any of you Mofo's measure up to that.

Asher, Exactly! They fight all the time for little things that most kids won't even bother. And that's even worse and you're correct, they have lot more memories too! And they're bitter and grumpy in some cases, that's gotta be the worst me thinks...

Remember the old folks home often has people at there worst. The are to sick or infirm to take care of themselves and I bet they hate to have to be dependent upon someone else for everything. They're probably pissed off at how badly their health and conditions have gotten and so they take it out on people like Pekka's friend or Asher.

It doesn't excuse being rude but I can't really blame them either. I can surely understand that they really aren't angry with their staff. I guess I'd just forgive them.

Don't get dementia victims mixed up with old folks.

Dementia is a disease that means you behave like a little kid - plenty of old folks still play with a full deck.

Oh yeah, dementia is not just a disease of the old - my uncle had pre-senile dementia, it drove my aunt batty. Quite frankly death is often a mercy in such cases.

Oerdin, SUre you shouldn't take those personally, as they would do it to anyone serving them. And naturally some of them are in bad condition and that has to be tough mentally, and then they take it out on people they shouldn't.. but maybe they don't have anyone to take it out on.

But the Florida thing was for people who are in good condition. You know like a big society. That was the high school place, all about social competition.
I mean they even had cheerleaders there, and they were training to put on a show later, and that was TOUGH competition, ladies getting put down and smoked out with outmost cruelty. Like they were all that, who was in it.. I mean who cares, they were not THAT hot even when they clearly thought so, and not so much better than other applicants. They were just more cruel and nasty.

Also the documentary made me little sad.. some folks kids just were nasty too. Didn't come to see them, even when they lived very close. They just didn't bother, or something else. Having their own lives.. Pfft..
And then the oldies were really miserable about that too, because they had no one else. Some old lady who seemed nice didn't even get invitation to their kids home for christmas! She was in good condition too, like anyone else. But no.. and you can only imagine what that feels like. And they were in the phone like 'yeah, we'll call you' and when they called 'there's lots of folks coming in, we think it'll be too hard for you, lots of hassle'.. but it was just a lie.. that should be a crime punishable by brutal beating with chains and bats.

My grandmother is in a nursing home a few blocks away.
Some of them, they don't do so well.
Some younger ones too, with head injuries.

My Grandfather had parkinson's desiese and he was in a home for three years before he passed away. My Grandmother went in to see him every day for six hours a day just to make sure he wasn't lonely, to brush his hair, to make sure he was eating right, and stuff like that. There were some people who's family just put them there and forgot about them. I mean they only came for Xmas and that was it.

I was 1.5 hours away but my parents made sure that we all went to see them at least once a month. At the time I often didn't want to go so I could play with my friends but now I'm very thankful my parents made me go so often.

One of the old guys (in his 80s) hit one of the nurses here a few weeks ago. She called the cops, they pressed assault charges.

Well she was giving him his pills. He needs them nightly. And he refused to take them, and she kept pestering him saying "You must take these pills to keep you healthy", and he just smacked her.

I wasn't there to watch, don't know details. All I know is the guy was kicked out and the police pressed charges.
