The estimated Jewish population in the the States has fallen from the time I left some 33 years ago at 6,000,000 to 4.5 to 5,100,000. The causes are intermarriage with assimulation, death of the elderly, less than two children per couple. On the otherhand the Orthodox Jewish population in the same period rose from 18% to 30% with the Reform and Conservative populations falling. The amount of people born Orthodox and remaining Orthodox or associated with Judiasm is over 97% as compared to the lower rates in the other communities.
If one takes into account all the Russian Jews, South and Central American Jews and Israeli Jews who have immigrated to the States in the last 33 years, the Statistics are even more shocking.
