Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I found Archer very impressive. I have neither played any other scens, nor have I downloaded the sounds. Are they worth it?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

This contest is interesting. I haven't really played all of them yet, but I don't get the atmosphere complaint on Archer. It has more than the others. It's just too hard to play as some of the Civs. I got wiped as Sony, then I tried as Microsoft and it was a good intro game. Now I'm trying as Mitsubishi and surviving at least.
I don't get how a game is unplayable because of atmosphere-you don't like the names of civs and leaders. How does that make it unplayable? Maybe its just too difficult. I looked at the units for the others and they all had cavalry-in the year 3000! Why don't you think that spoils the atmosphere?

The reason for the horses in the game is to be found in the readmes or histories of the scenarios. Many are post-apocalyptic, modern technology hasn't reached everyone yet. This is MUCH more realistic then Volkswagen fighting Sony...that's just plain stupid.

Why corporations are such an unrealistic future government? Arent they getting bigger and stronger? It's an idea in lots of Science Fiction too. This part is in Archers readme too, same as the others. How can you say that Demonic Sultans or whatever are a realistic idea for the year 3000? Some of the plots of the others are pretty standard. It seems like they all used some excuse like a nuclear war or magic to move technology BACK, not forward. Give a Phalanx a ray-gun and call it advanced technology. Horses in the year 3000? Dino-mutants? Why are these OK but corporations are not OK?

Got spare money?

Sure large corporations can be future governements...but Volkswagen and Microsoft are a bit to 20th century. It's really difficult to picture the corporations of today as world controllers fighting each other...especially if they're run by OT characters. I simply can't get "into the scenario" without laughing.

Demonic Sultans...yeah this is a little farfetched, but since this contest is as much sci-fi as fantasy it is more accesable to me then Archer's. Horses? Why not, they were used for millenia on Earth, and wh shouldn't hey still be used in the future? Just look at the movie "The Postman". Mutants? Why not? Genetic mutations, either caused by nature or by man (radiation or experiments), is certainly possible. Noting strange about that.

The corporations idea is quite good, but present-day corporations are a bit weird. I can't picture a Mitsubitsi car and a Volkswagen fighting each other, in whatever way. I see those cars every day and it seems a little to strange that those companies would actually declare war on eachother.

What are OT characters? Are they the rulers in Archer? I thought they were made up computer names.

go to the Off Topic forums of apolyton and you'll find all people there that are in Archer. They all exist on that forum and therefor it's a bit weird to see them in a civII scenario. I can't take it serious.
