	Newest reply not showing up... Inflate your Upload Space

Something of note that I haven't seen talked about before. Maybe it's something simple as a post being deleted, but...

Browsing through the Civ3 General forum, I saw this thread bumped from a while ago with a new post, but when opening up the thread, the new post is non existant.

When clicking on the "go to latest unread post" icon, it takes me into the thread at the top and there is no new post to read.

A bug?

The numbers don't show up in the image below, but if you count, Solver's last post is reply # 43.

hi ,

could also be an " edit " , ...... sometimes when people want to attach something and it gets refused , and that poster tries four five times , you shall get a message for each try , .....

and sometimes you get a message dont see anything because a mod or owner has deleted the post , ....

and sometimes all you have to do is hit "refresh" , .....

I just hit the reply to this thread button and you can see the most recent additions, but nothing before mik73's reply.

Oh dear. This is a nasty little problem.

The essence of it is this:

spoiler(highlight to read): [*]I've just posted 2 replies to that thread. [*]The thread was bumped to the top of the forum [*]Neither of my posts appeared when I opened the thread [*]My post count has gone up by 2 Basically that thread is now a posting black hole where you can spam your ass off and leave no trail. This thread being reported to the mods so the other thread can be locked or deleted as required.

Tried tossing the cookies and refreshing, but it's not a user problem, it's a board problem.

And, though it seems like a black hole...if you hit the "post reply" button you will get to see the replies that you can't see in the thread itself.

I wonder what would happen if we got more than 15 replies. I'd guess then some replies would truly become lost.

The answer:

Anti-load feature. MySQL (the database Apolyton uses for it's forums) is configured not to register new posts after Settler II reaches high-traffic.

I've noticed it before, and it is why some new threads have posts but not views. IIRC, views is disabled before posts.

A little bump to see if anyone has figured out this problem, or if any one cares anymore. The thread says it has "7" replies, but acts the same as before and truly had 50 replies by now.
