I've noticed, that in many war movies they use anti-war songs. But not in a way of making dramatic effect or anytinhg but more when it's time to look cool. You know, guys wearing aviators, smoking cigs, sitting in top of tanks with their green t-shirts on and smiling. And having their personal weapon be the baby.
SO, why do they play anti-war songs? I think they fit very good though, because many of them sounds good.
Like CCRs Fortunate Son etc etc you know the songs.
There's nothing better than having a wild guitar screaming while you shoot few enemis, take a pose and smile to the cameras  
Is it supposed to be a ying yang thing or what? It's not like it's happened once, it's in most war movies always.
I'm thinking of making a video about military hardware, you know, tanks rolling, guns, few world leaders speaking, cut, action, mobilizing, fighters, choppers, and a cool anti-war song on the back. And babes. Lots of babes. I think I'm getting too fond of military stuff lately, I've always liked them but now I'm drooling, someone please help me?

Osweld, come on.. my weapons are not mass killing weapons. They are self defense systems. If they were mass killing weapons, they would be used by terrorists and people who are mass killers. They are used to defend against people like that. Properly used, they will only kill baddies. And I have drawn better pictures too as I have actually designed them and thoght about mechanism and technical difficulties adn calculations, and if you really want to, I can try to scan them somewhere so you can see them, they look more 'professinoal'. Would that make you happy?
Besides, I have ethics too, I design only systems that are not used to attack as their primary mission, but defend. Like mines. No one forces attacker to step in them, I see no problem. Some of them are not serious projects, but more to entertain myself, like Susie Q. Then there are weapons that can actually work in real life, like the sleepwatcher. If you have a problem with weapons, then why don't you e-mail to lockheed & martin or something?

Besides, this is once again becoming the forever debate of wars/weapons/soldiers vs peace/flowers/natural scent. It's BS anyway. People will always have conflict of interest, hatred, grudge, need for more power and what not. So, they will NEVER stop until the last man has died from this universe. You can put all John Lennon tapes to play on stations 24/7, but it's not going to change a thing.
The fact is, people are stupid, so they will fight. What are you going to do about it? You can stand next to it and point fingers and sing peace songs. Or you can enter the battlefield and make it finish sooner. There is nothing more painful for the infrastructure and civilians, kids and mothers AND to soldiers than slow burning war, never ending war, a war that no one is thinking of finishing. Why is that? Because the other side is strong/weak enough to keep you from winning, causing overall destruction and pain to be bigger for BOTH sides. So, what are you going to do? Stand next to it and say war is bad? It sure is, but it's not going to stop it.
Majority of people blame mercs, private military companies (PMCs) and what ever. They think they are only fuel to the fire, when they are there to be effective, take out enemies of someone, and that actually makes the wars shorter. There are no thousands of mercs working on both sides so it can continue. Don't you think there are enough wars to occupy mercs? Do you think mercs get paid thousands of dollars a week? Hell no they don't. They have to volunteer to fight, and that makes them volunteers, and that makes them earn worse than .. anyone in the world. Only ones making money is PMCs and their operators. And they're highly professional veterans of wars and ex-special ops. They get highly dangerous missions, and they are very effective, and they make a difference. And that difference is resulting less pain and destruction.

Osweld, in the contrary, mines are one of the most ethical weapons there is. The problem with them are that most of the times they are used in a wrong way.
Enemy doesn't even think of removing them, ever.
If mines are used correctly, they make (i don't know the word in english) 'sulutteet' and other documents that clearly points where they are, so they can be taken out, and when war is over, they WILL be taken out.
So as a defensive weapon, yes they are very ethical. As offensive weapon they are NOT ethical, as they maim civies after wars etc, just like you described. So no, IMO they are very ethical, it's just the ethics of the soldiers that decides what happens.

Best movie soundtrack and best movie IMO is Forest Gump. Anti-war songs just sound good and make the situation that the soldiers are in seem more dramatic and dire.

ps I'm always thinking of situation that is defensive war against attacker/oppressor. I'd never go attack people or think of waving guns at them. I'm a man of peace. But sometimes you can get in trouble because other people enforce there will on you, so then you must defend yourself or die. I choose fighting rather than giving up and dying.
better be safe than sorry.
History has shown many times, that if you are weak, you will be ran over. If you're not prepared, you'll get destroyed by prepared ones. It doens't mean you have to have all the weapons and be ready 24/7 personally and be paranoid about it. But I sleep better knowing that my side is ready, prepared and has awful lot of weapons. So then if things come down to it, we have at least some chances to survive. You don't build your house when the water is low to the beach. YOu can yell at the water to stop rising, but it will come and it will take your house. So better to build it a little higher. And that doesn't make you building fanatic, that makes you reasonable and a type of person that wants counter possible destruction. I see nothing wrong with that.
Would you rather make spears with McGyver swiss army knife if someone decides to attack? No, you need powerful weapons. When you use them, do you go curse to the designers and say 'you bad people, killers!'. No, you kiss the weapons and take the bad words back.
