It's called "Rapa Nui" as far as I know. That is also the name of the island I think in the language of the natives.
Wasn't that film made by that "Waterworld" guy? Kevin something?
Never seen "Rapa Nui" though.

"The Mystery of the Easter Island"...
I like that title!

BTW I think I could make a map. I'd just have to find a good atlas or so depicting it.

Reismark, I'll try to get ToT before the contest starts (very likely it will be an illegal copy ). If the contest starts on christmas I'll try to get a copy by the end of november. If I don't get one you still have a month to find another judge.

OK, I'll agree with Reismark for once (contrary to what this post originally said). If Dracula was going to be the topic, I'd like to have some time to read the book first before I dive into scenario creation.

DRAKUL! DRAKUL! DRACULA!

Thats the best scenario contest idea i've ever heard! First off, its semi historical, second its semi fantasy, and third it greatly involves Hungary!!! Interesting enough to make me participate!!!

MJ, rent the movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula." That's pretty close to the book.

I could be wrong about this, but didn't someone already make a Dracula scenario some time ago?

indeed - dracula host of the undead, a really good but technically unstable scenario, my entry for the contest would be patching that one up

i still think easter island is the best choice, although it will of course be ignored as was all our input last time

Mr. Temba,

I'm not sure that your advice was ignored. As far as I recall, a thread just like this was distilled down to the six most popular options. People then were invited to vote. Personally I did a double-take when Earth 3000 was the most popular theme, presuming that the Korean War would walk it in.

Despite not having your preferred choice voted at the one to go with, I think it was great that you participated, and clearly submitted one of the better entries from what I believe was a pretty good batch in the main.

The existing Dracula scenario was a very simply done scenario on a standard map with standard units, except for a modified version of the 'extra land' samurai unit which passed as a vampire. This unit would appear randomly at the same location each time. That was just about the extent of the events, and the scenario.

Imagine the potential of well done 2 or 4 map Test of Time version. The possibilities are endless...for de chil-dren uf de night!

Techumseh: They just showed it twice last night on TNT, and may show it again Sunday. Pretty good stuff, but I prefer the book.

Mr. Temba - well, no wonder it didn't get up then! I do remember there was a voting system where there were about four - six choices though. Reismark - jog my memory here please.

Now I'm no longer part of the SDC staff - "Hey! What's happening? Are you looking for more ideas or what?" I love being on the other side!

(Ooops - smiley overload - you'd think this was St. Leo's post - ooops - there I go again!)

We didn't ignore all of your input (honest!). This time we are doing even better at ignoring... er, I mean, "taking into account the wishes of the people"

We've decided to reward those who participated in previous contests by giving them a vote as to what scenario to run. The list is almost ready and will be emailed in secret to previous participants some time next week. After that, we'll announce the winning entries and start our ToT and FW contests running!

Expect the web site by Christmas!

Well, I'll probably not participate unless its Dracula. I've never liked any of the previous scenario context ideas enough to actually make a scenario on them.

Try something different... Instead of traditional military units, create missionary units, that would convert others.
Use either major religions, or make them up! (I still would like to see a Jesus unit go head-to-head with a Buddha unit)
Raname and redesign all units, improvements, commodities, wonders and government types to reflect the theme.
Make sure its balanced for multiplay.

I dare yah !

I don't build scenarios, but I think it would be an interesting challange.

Heres a idea for a scenario. One where Uncle Sparky's mother goes up against my dick!!!

I swear, why do so many people have to trash my religion? It's bad enough that we are already the targets of hate crimes and school shootings.

MJ - Only you could equate Jesus converting people with an Octagenarian performing oral sex on you. You live in your own sad little world.

Actually, it was a serious suggestion. There has been a tendancy lately in multi play to move away from bribery. This scenario would be the opposite.

... Instead of traditional military units, create missionary units, that would convert others.

All major units would have the power to convert other units & cities (except capitals & one major unit from each civ.) Traditional offensive & defensive points would become either irrelevent of far less relevent. Different units would have more or less power of conversion (dips vs. spy)

The tech tree would be uprooted and rebuilt. Also, is there a way to change the Space ship ? Turn it into the ultimate "Paridise on Earth" for the victor that creates "enlightenment"?

Possibly "science" could be replaced by "faith", making the religion more powerful; "gold" = "tilthes"; I have no idea what trade would become or what commodities could be used.

... or you could take MJ's suggestion and have a scenario where teenagers try to have sex with little old ladies. I must admit, it would be a real challenge to design.
