Okay admit it, who was in the boy scouts? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

actually I'll include other scouting type youth groups as well like cub scouts.

I was only in the boy scouts for about 6 months. Then I realized it was too much work to get merit badges and such. I didn't want to put up with all that bullshit. I just wanted to go to cool places.

Feel free to post stories about your scouting experiences. And any experiences with gay scout leaders as well

I was in the Beavers, which was what they call boy scouts here when they're 5 or 6. Stayed in it for 5-6 months.

It was actually fun to be in Scouting in Calgary, we used to go on so many kickass camps in the Rockies.

I have especially fond memories of all the games we'd play when it was pitch black in the middle of the forests and fields.

I have no idea what the brownies did. I just kinda sorta remember the name as a kid. I guess they baked brownies and such. They were for girls obviously, but I don't think they did anything useful. Of course little girls rarely do anything useful .

Even the girl scouts rarely went scouting I think. I'm sure they never slept on the ground like us men- I mean boys did. They probably had cabins and such.

I have a memory of being about seven years old and my mom taking me to some boy scouts or cub scouts or something meeting or something (which i only went to complaining about how it was gay [yes even at the age of seven i realized the homo-eroticism of the boy scouts ])... after a little while sitting at the meeting or whatever it was with me figiting and playing with the badges they had on display, my mom took me home early and i never returned.

My mom tried to sign me up for the Boy Scouts when I was little. She filled the forms, paid the registration fee...and never heard from them again. My mom did all the neccessary research into the program beforehand, and even spoke with the parents of some of my friends who were Scouts. Obviously, that was the last time we ever dealt with those thieving b*stards (the Boy Scouts, not the parents or their kids).

And before anyone says it, this all happened a few years BEFORE I became gay. Seperate - and short - story, but I'm sure the more bigoted among you* might have thought it a good idea to bring up my sexuality as a reason.

*EDIT: Which is to say, "...the more bigoted among you READING this might have...

EDIT EDIT: Ack, still doesn't sound right... ...I'm not singling any person out who has posted. I'm just saying...*sigh*...forget it. Apolytoners are smart enough to figure out my meaning.

No, it was legit. Perhaps it was a practice that wasn't done in every region/local chapter, or perhaps it was discontinued, but it was a legitmate program she contacted. Believe me, she researched everything she could think of and interviewed 3 sets of parents, and we still got screwed. Wasn't a lot of money, so just a minor annoyance.

10 years, in scouts, cubs and beavers.

I got to go to 1 Canadian Jamboree in Kananaskis, and 1 provincial Jamboree near my hometown.
