Turn 20 - 3050bc Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

MAJOR NEWS!

Ok, the 1st worker started to irrigate the shield grassland that the 2nd worker is roading.

Southern scout swings round to come back up the east coast.

Scout nearest Izzardia continues to explore the jungle - we can see 2 sources of Spices to the south.

Python have built their second city - Castle Aauuuurggh - to the west of their capital (see world map in other thread). Hard to tell if they got the settler from a goody hut or not ... it's easily possible for them to have built it normally, though - they've been working that Wheat tile and are industrious so probably haven't built a second worker yet.

But wait ... that isn't the big news ....

....

Our tundra scout in the far north popped a Settler! In the most useless place possible!

and

What on earth are we going to do with this thing? It will take (estimate only, sorry) 25 turns to march him back to our core. Sure, it's better than nothing, but still not that great.

Ideas anyone?

March him back, FP. You may want to hold up our conscript warrior in the mts to protect him/watch for barb threats. This means more luxury slider use, but it's probably worth it.

Damn, what a silly spot to get a settler from! I hope Python doesn't catch sight of it. It's just SUCH a tempting target.

As for their second city... well, turn 20, right?

My best guess:

Turn 1 - move settler, start irrigation with worker (I bet they started on the wheat)
Turn 2 - build city. Use wheat tile. Begin warrior.
Turn 3 - irrigation complete. 4f, 1s. Move worker to bonus grass
Turn 4 - begin mine. 8f, 2s.
Turn 5 - 12f, 3s.
Turn 6 - 16f, 4s.
Turn 7 - mine complete, begin road. Size 2, 7s.
Turn 8 - 4f, warrior complete. Build another.
Turn 9 - road complete, move to next bonus grass. 8f, 4s
Turn 10 - begin mine. 12f, 8s
Turn 11 - 16f, warrior complete. Begin settler
Turn 12 - Size 3, 4s.
Turn 13 - Mine complete, begin road. 4f, 9s.
Turn 14 - 8f, 14s.
Turn 15 - 12f, 19s. Road complete, move to next tile.
Turn 16 - 16f, 24s.
Turn 17 - Size 2, settler complete.
Turn 18 - move settler
Turn 19 - move settler
Turn 20 - found new city.

We really need that settler back home. Keep in mind he doesn't have to get all the way back. He could build a northern city on the river.

Our first built settler will be done 15 turns from now (T35).

We're planning to build a city NW of Izzardia with that one, right?

I figure we have 2 basic options:

1) Do as planned with the built settler. Use hut settler to build a city further up the river toward the Pythons

2) Use the hut settler to build the city NW of Izzardia, use the built settler to build a city elsewhere (SE?).

1 is dangerous, as it could be seen as us trying to cut off the Python's expansion. It is kinda time efficient, though.

On the other hand, #2 gets us 2 productive cities in the span of a couple of turns, whereas with #1, one of the cities will be fairly corrupt due to distance.

How long to march the hut settler to the tile north of the cow we plan to build our second city on, FP?

EDIT: I counted tiles on the map - it's 16 moves, I believe That works pretty nicely, don't you think?

That sounds like a good plan. Our hut settler can build north of the cow then.

Hug the coastline with the hut settler as long as possible. That may keep it out of sight of Python.

The settler due for T35 can then go SE, and build the coastal town you and I were discussing.

We might want to consider punching out another worker or two after the 1st settler is built. Our 2 workers will be working on tiles near the river (we need to develop those tiles), so the SE city would be deprived of worker support.

Actually, I'm thinking we want to build a city 2, 1 from the wine hill (on hill/on river).

Maybe that one before the coastal one.

We're gonna need MM before any coastal town would be really worth anything and that must be a good 40 or 50 turns away. We can wait.

My thoughts as well. So I think the river city south of Izzardia has higher priority.

By the way, do you think it's just us talking to ourselves in here because no one else is paying attention, or because everyone else has such faith in us and thinks we're doing such a good job that they don't feel the need to interject?

Our world colonisation starts early if we build our second screen on the other side of the globe.

I could come up with a cock'n'bull story about how I meant what I typed in order to save face, but the truth is, I didn't.

Replace 'screen' with 'city' and recall that my knowledge of our geography was limited to what I could see in this thread.
