I have worked over the last few months to develop for the contest a ToT scenario that really takes advantage of the new event features in ToT, especially the flags. Much of the scenario's design is founded on the use of flags and masks to make complex events take place like: if city taken and the attacker has such and such techs and completed quest for the whatever then make this really cool event happen. Over the past month I have been trying to implement the events I had planed. All attempts to use the CHECKFLAG with a MASK and COUNT had weird results. After wasting a tremendous amount of time trying to make it work I came to the realization that Test of Time had a major bug in this department (see post).
Since there is no hope that Microprose will fix this bug by the 18th (if ever), I have been frantically trying to redesign and adapt the scenario so as not to be dependant on this feature. I have come to the conclusion that I will not be able to complete the redesign by the deadline and I fear my months of work on the contest entry will be lost. It is for this reason that I make the following official request.
I humbly ask the SDC#3 staff, judges, and directors to extend the submission deadline for the ToT contest by two or three weeks in light of the ToT events bug.
