So, we're about to start work on a BIG SECRET project - but what are we going to build? All the early projects are good, but which one can the Hive grab for its very own?

Human Genome Project : Allows mad expansion without police
Weather Paradigm : 50% faster terraforming, which would be nice.
Merchant Exchange : +1ec in all squares at that base - could see us making some money at last
Command Nexus : Quite simply means we'd have no penalty for runnng Wealth, and totally kick-arse troops running power.
Virtual World : Mostly because we CAN'T let the Uni get this one. But its pretty darn useful for us in the long term. Makes all Network Nodes function as Holgram theatres too (2 less drones, +50% psych)
Planetary Transit System : All bases start at size 3 (and then starve) One less drone on size 3 or smaller bases.
Planetary Energy Grid : An Energy Bank at all our bases. Sweet.
Empath Guild : Lovely SP, but sadly not avaliable in this game.
Citizens Defence Force : Ummm... so each base has TWO free perimiter defences... ummm, well maybe not.

What do people think - we'll start building the WP, but we can change it at any time.

We can do the Virtural World, and if the Uni does beat us to it we could switch to a different project, I know this would cripple the Uni iearly in teh game, but if ther industrial capability is not high enough to make this done in a decen amount of time, then we should do the WP.

The Merchant Exchange the drones are going for this so no real point.

I would go for WP, mainly because it will make the most out the land we currently have and allow us to raise terran faster for making new bases.

After finishing the WP.

* If we get biogenetics, we next try build the Human Genome Project.
* After which we try build the vitual world. To deny the university from getting it and to encourge our tech.
* After which we try build the Planetary Transit System, so we can do colony pod population booming.
* After which we try build the command centre.

The command centre is lower in the list because the other factions probably don't have and won't get loyalty for a while.

I await for the soon-to-be flurry of SP building. On another point, should we believe any SP started by other factions to be the one they are really going for? Also should we try a SP subtefuge to get them second guess what we are really go for? However if we cash in all the SP at most, then that would leave little time for the other factions to respond.

Wait... why Rabbit? I have a better idea - InstaRabbits!

As for the order of instarabbits, I would say, WP, HGP/VW, CN. Comrade Hoan actually have a good idea I believe. Remember you can always switch SP without penalty. So I recommand we built two crawlers each base and instabuild WP or VW. Then we start the other one, if we can't get that, go for the CN.

While the Merchant Exchange is one of the weaker of the early wonders, the drone can switch to other SPs at their leisure.

I think we should aim for either the Weather Paradigm or the Command Nexus. We already have the prerequisites for both, and they are both critical SPs.

What opinions does everyone hold on the [i]Planetary Energy Grid[.i].

I've always found it rather useful to have as the Hive in order to boost the ec production. Though it can be considered not as essential if we do not have too many bases, but if we pursue the policy of continual expansions we will be stuck with a large number of lesser developed bases early on. In such a case building the PEG would be beneficial.

I suspect the five human factions each will get one of the following five SP: WP, ME, HGP, VW, PTS. If that is the case, then PEG could be a good choice for the 2nd SP.

Seems like WP is the popular 1st choice. If we can go for any SP we like what would be the 2nd choice? VW? PTS? HGP?

By the time we finished WP and build another bunch of crawlers, getting ready for 2nd SP, I would suggest looking at other factions SP building status. If Univ is building VW, then we should do instabuild VW and snatch it from them . Otherwise, go for HGP.

The drones problems I encountered in the simulation I ran were pretty bad. We really need HGP more than the VW at least for the short run.
