Hmmm, this definitely has potential to cross over from fair game to foul.

GL farming? Out of the question. I do not feel that we should allow ourselves to be convinced otherwise, because we certainly would neve be able to convince the other teams in the game.

OTOH, how many of us have seen MP games where a civ was clearly unable to win themselves, but continued on as a king maker? I've done it myself in a long running PTW game. It was completely natural for me to do that in that game as I had no chance of winning myself.

The key is that nothing be done that the other civs regard as exploitative. Now, in this situation I see an inherent problem with that. GF went from Poly to join CDG. Now everyone from CDG is bailing, and GF is proposing to take over the civ and lead it into vassalage with us. Would he offer this to CFC? GCA? What is likely is that it be viewed as an Apolyton trojan horse planted into another civ, and that horse finally revealing it's contents. What a coup! What a PR nightmare!

All that may not matter much though, as the following message has been received from GF.

Well then its a moot point: If he sticks around as a vassal state, then the rest of his team can't join another team. While that part actually sounds like a bonus to me, the rest of his team (and him too from the sounds of it) don't think so.

And NYE is right, there is bound to be questions and raised eyebrows over it given that GF is a Poly regular.

Besides, if we win (and I think we have a much better chance than anyone else on our continent at least), we really don't want the other teams saying Poly just won cause of GF and CDG.

Do not accept CDG as a Vassel State.

Let's not fool ourselves, this is not an honorable act. Whether the "secret" leaks out or not, we will never hold our heads high when we meet our allies and competitors in the ISDG.

Not matter how many pros being listed, this does not change my view (or other people perception) that this is not right.

If we are going to win this game, let's win it with honor and integrity.

How would you feel if two other teams did this?

I haven't been involved so I would abstain in a poll, but my instinct is this is an abuse.

Perhaps, for future reference, there should be a distinction between an 'abandoned' civ, such as CDG, becoming a vassal, and a team decision to play out as a vassal.
