As I said in the turnthread, CFC is far weaker than both us and CGN/GWT. They are almost no threat in their current state. However, we know that 2 civs on the other continent are now in the Medieval Age, among them CGN who gets a free tech. Their economies are a lot stronger than their own right now, and that trend will only accelerate once they become a Republic. We need to maintain tech parity with them at any cost, or else our economic future is in serious jeopardy.

It will take at least 30 turns for CFC to research a single Medieval Age tech. They're no threat as long as we keep them away from Chivalry before we attack. However, the two civs whose economies are 1.5 times as large our own are a threat, and that will become very clear once we get our first real glimpse at them.

I vote yes. Because taking into account our interests we must.

Of course, all this hinges on CDG wanting to delay their being able to join other teams, which they likely do not. It also assumes an agreement with CFC, which does not exist. Furthermore, it relies on the actions of a person who can be somewhat erratic over a period of several turns to get it all done, and that person has asked us to deliver the coup de grace.

Deals are great, and it would be wonderful if this were practical. I do not see it as being practical at this point.

All we need to do is talk with CFC and get Construction hammered out. Once that is done, we gift all of said techs to CDG, and they return with the free tech the turn afterwards. The key is getting ahold of CFC sometime soon, since I can find MRex in MSN at a whim usually.

We have no agreement with CFC, and we have no claim to force CDG to continue in the game and delay their members joining other teams.

Deals are great, but we would need 2 willing, stable partners for this to work. We do not have that.

This has been rendered moot by the fact CDG has told us that Mongoose ruled that no-one can join another team until their old team is dead. CDG is thus no longer going to cooperate on this, and we stand to gain nothing by keeping them around against their requests.

Sorry folks, when the save is played next we fully intend to eliminate CDG. There's no more chance of a Medieval advance, with CDG and CFC both unwilling to cooperate.

No prob, Life goes on.

On the bright side :
1. With Currency, and Republic coming soon, we are ahead in Techs compared with all other Civilisations in our continent.
2. We are just one Tech short of going into Medieval.
3. We are close to Republic.
4. Our exploration is doing well. We are probably close to finding the other civilisations.

Wait a minute ...... if the other continents are already in Medieval age, they would have found MapMaking a long time ago. With no Wars happening so far, wouldn't they be sending out ships to locate us ? When haven't we met any of them ?

Very good question. I hope we find out soon.

btw, there is evidence of a war over there. Mongoose mentioned rumours of it, and Grenouille's (sp) score has stagnated.

btw, after assurances from GF that the members of his team would not mind, we let CDG live this one more turn. He is supposed to ask his mates to see if they are willing to wait 3 or 4 further turns, assuming that CFC will come to their senses and not demand 3 techs for construction.

However, we are risking losing Shah if we wait too much longer without assent by CDG. All they have to do is hit the 'retire' option and Shah will be gone, leaving an empty choke point.

Final bit of info relevant...

People are starting to express displeasure at 1bc that a civ is being played by a single person. I am not even sure that CDG will be pratical to survive 3 or 4 more turns, even if they are solidly behind it.

This scheme stood a chance of succeeding as long as it remained below the RADAR. Well, it is rising to notice.

I fear we could end up with a very bad PR situation if this continues much longer, and people begin to ask pointed questions.
