I'm not sure of the exact provisions, but ethics demand Justices not make decisions if there are conflicts of interests. But then again, the SCOTUS has more than a few members who are morally bankrupt individuals who I wouldn't trust presiding over a traffic court.

Actually it's true. Read a book, or do some internet research... keywords "election scalia bush". My bias is irrelevant because there's more than enough information. It's not like I'm writing an op-ed here.

Many conservatives do. They love that 2nd Amendment and their open interpretation... but hate the 1st and the 4th. I don't mind if people have a certain interpretation of the Constitution, but keep it consistent.

They probably have rules on what constitute a quorum. They mostly tend to believe in the dignity of the court, and that it is not a partisan body, so they wouldn't do things like boycott the court in hope of stopping it from making a ruling.

Both of them should have recused themselves to protect the integrity of the Court. This is something they are supposed to protect.

The Constitution only says that there shall be a Supreme Court and that it shall automatically handle certain types of cases. It's makeup and the other types of cases it may hear are determined by Congress, and its member are appointed by the President subject to Senate approval. We haven't always had nine justices, and during the FDR administration, after he got exasperated with SCOTUS for declaring all his programs unConsitutional, he began making noises about expanding the number of justices on the bench. At other times, Congress has threatened to disallow the Courts from hearing certain types of cases. Both times it produced a more pliable Court.

If Congress wanted, they could give the justices four year terms or make them retire automatically when they hit retirement age. They could forbid them from hearing any cases related to abortion. They could make them wear purple robes. The only thing Congress can't do is mess with SCOTUS' Constitutionally granted powers.
