movies are usually a bad idea. You spend the entire time staring at a screen without talking to each other. Furthermore, if the girl likes the movie, then you'll have some stuff to talk about afterwards, but if the gilr hated the movie, then she will be turned off.
mini golf, bowling, picnic, amusement park, pool, tennis, are all good ideas. If you already know the girl a bit, then pay attention to hints she may drop about the kind of things she loves. If you do something that you know she likes, the date will go much better.

A first date should be easy if you have the faintest clue about what your date likes. Pick some activity that you KNOW she has enjoyed in the past and that you like as well.
This shows you cared enough to find out and also ensures she will enjoy the activity part of the date. Its always easier to talk to a woman that is already having a good time.
Examples: Hike, bike, rollerblade, amusement park, concert, bowling, pool,mini-golf, zoo etc.
All of these can be fun, can provide changing topics of conversation if there are lags and provide breaks when you are doing the activity
My views on other first date choices
Movie-- good in that you get a long stretch near them but bad in that you can hardly learn anything about them-- If the movie sucks . . . .
Dinner-- can be a very intense date since there is literally nothing to do but make converstaion in a static environment until the food comes-- its very good to learn a lot about a person in a short time but it does not have the lighthearted moments and many natural activity interuptions of an activity date. It is also of a somewhat fixed duration-- I think of dinner as a date when I know that I like the person and want to learn a lot
Coffee/drink -- much like a dinner but with the blessing of being as long or as short as you wish.
Walk (ie in the park)-- has the benefits of other activity dates except that the activity doesn't provide breaks n the converstation
I'll repeat that the main thing is to pick an activity that she is interested in . KNowing that is half the battle.

1) cliff jumping -- for example, there is a lake about 30 miles from here that has a little cliff (ranges from about 15-30 ft) It is good because you get to see if a girl has guts, you get to see her in a swimsuit, and it is undeniable that water turns girls on.
2)Mountain Biking - for many of the same reasons.
3) Basically anything outside that requires a little effort and will get the blood flowing through her veins. If they get hot and bothered, they are going to want you to be hot and bothered too. And lite exercise is a natural turn on....

Pool or ten-pin bowling best ideas? |
No, no, no...I was in the city centre on Saturday and I thought of an idea - to go for a stroll around Ferens Art Gallery, and I thought when in there 'What a great place for a first date'...There should be a free art gallery somewhere around Manchester (eg, The Lowry) which also possesses a small cafe...go for a walk around there and perhaps a cup of coffee to finish...nice walk, cheap, pleasant surroundings whatever the weather, and cultured...I think it is a great plan
