	Midevil Techs: What next? Support Apolyton

CDG offered (unaccepted) Feudalism to us.

We have two choices going into the next age:

Monotheism
Engineering

Given that most teams will go for Monotheism as it's a necessary step to Chivalry, I believe we should research Engineering. It also helps us alot with rivers and road movement.

As much as I would like to have Cathedrals in my cities, I think that Engineering (of the choices) is more important.

Engineering definitely. We don't have many rivers to cross right now, but it's a great tradeworthy tech since CFC will almost assuredly shoot for monotheism first for chivalry.

I could only support a move towards Engineering if we were then also going after Invention, enroute to getting Leonardo's. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense to chase Engineering now- we don't HAVE that many rivers, and knights will benefit us as much as anyone else.

However, I will vote Engineering because I think technologically, we have a shot at getting to Leonardo's early, and our GA will give us a great shot at building it.

Sure would be nice for us to build Leonardo's and be the second wonder-builder on the continent.

Engineering. We do have a lot of swords/MI, and it would be nice to not have them slowed by river crossings.

And because of Leos .. I like that wonder.
And because most likely, CFC will want Mono.

I voted Monotheism.

Why:

I don't think we will get it from CFC-I think they will be dead before the 40 turns is up, unless they decide to up their research, which I doubt they have much capacity for, library and marketplace wise.

Why, pt.2:

Cathedrals=culture=protection against foreign culture domination, protection of our soil

Why, pt. 3:

We will only meet up with another civ through suicide galleys. Can we spare a galley now? One galley suicides are notorious for failings, but... Will the unknown civs suicide galleys? Not if they are at war or tenuous peace.




I would usually vote for engineering in this case, but wanted to have at least a token counter. And I think we need culture.

Definately Engineering, followed by Invention and a build of Leo. I will make building that a priority; possibly even getting a prebuild for it soon....

What's the timing for when we'll be at war?

It makes a huge difference on weather wonder builds, and espcecally a palace prebuild of a wonder with the purpose of switching when the tech is discovered is desirable.
