Surreal? Surreal is playing the Anglo Saxons in the Norman Invasion scenario that came with my CIV II Gold, doing so well that I kicked William the Bastard out and followed with an invasion of France, encountered barbarians in France (which I think was a glitch - I don't remember any barbarains before that point and it was near the end of the scenario) and
this is the surreal part
The barbarian leader looked like a mutant squid with eyes on the ends of its tentacles.

THAT was surreal.
