Civ dependent improvements Tired of ads?

It would be a major improvement if the new C3C editor allowed linking improvements, wonders and techs to specific civs, the same way that units can be linked in PTW. This would open up many new possibilities, including greater differences between civs. There could be some major eirher/or branches in the tech tree instead of every civ getting everything. Just a thought for the developers.

You can already do this indirectly, by making civ-specific tech trees. But you are right that real Civ-dependent improvements would be much better. It would allow, for example, "flavour improvements" much like "flavour units". For example, the Arabs could build Bazaars and Mosques instead of Cathedrals and Marketplaces, with the same effects.

The Arabs already have a Mosque-looking Cathedral, don't they? It seems that the name isn't really that important, as it represents basically the same thing.

The last patch presumably allows it (I didn't install it yet, curse the UK version).
It was possible before to almost manage making Civ-specific tech trees by giving a starting Tech that would be required for all following techs (for example, you'd give the tech "Egypt" to the Egyptians, and make it a requirement for all Egyptian advances).
Unfortunately, this method would lead to abuses by the player, as he could aim for another's tree tech, and research said fundamental tech doing so. The new patch is to correct this bug.

bazaars are marketplaces are they not?

I would think it would be far more interesting if the whole tech tree is available with only certain techs available for certain civs which allow civ specific buildings/units...

Also there could be civ specific small wonders...
