	Our Trade Deal with GCA Tired of ads?

Currently we have a deal in place with GCA to give them Mapmaking for Currency. When I last spoke with Lucky they were @10 turns to Currency and that was 3-4 turns ago.

We already have Currency.

GCA needs only Mapmaking and Construction to get to the next age. They would then have to research Feudalism to be caught up to us. Thus, we are a little more than 3 techs ahead of them.

Some additional notes:

Our new tech trade of MM for Currency DID NOT include language that we must trade even if we get the tech from other sources. In the past we included such language but MZ renegotiated this one on the fly and without any formal language or treaty signing. GCA will argue that we are bound to perform the trade, and we will be sending already tense relations to an even more chilly level by refusing to give them Mapmaking.

However, given that we're about to invade them, we may just want to accept the rep hit we're taking for backing out of this tech deal because breaking our NAP with them (and yes, we have no legit excuse) will be a far more serious rep issue.

My advice: Stall on the tech trade, and then inform them, "Sorry guys, we got Currency from a goodie hut, so our deal is void, but we'd be happy to SELL you Mapmaking instead for 120g (or some higher amount)"

Then we put on happy faces as we weather the storm of their anger, we continue to negotiate and stall this thing out until invasion time.

Whatever we do, DON'T give them Map Making.

The whole strategy behind the war is that there's 1 road between Elucidium and Catchopolis, and their units will be found in between. The last thing we need is to find 2 Swords and 2 Spears popping up on the southern peninsula, or adjacent to BB.

First stall tactic: Don't bring it up until they do.
Next stall tactic: Ignore them for several turns then they do bring it up. Force them to get into a chat before you ackowledge them, and
avoid a chat while we can.

If we get lucky we won't have to deal with it directly until its a void issue by us having crossed the border :P If not oh well, we still shouldn't be giving them any techs at all, much less important ones like map making.

Do not give them MM regardless of any prearanged deals. We need to keep them in the stone ages for as long as possible.

I agree with Wervdon here. We dont have to break this deal. Just avoid it. If and when they bring it up say we cant do anything official yet and plan a chat. Make sure it allows a day or two. Then at the chat dont say anything official. Then make an agreement. With some crazy things in it. They wont sign it and they will try to make ammendments to it. At that time we should disagree and make our own ammendments. Hopefully they will say no. By that time we should have invaded.
