Transports , Bridges Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I absolutly love this game except for one point. I hate the fact that troops automatically turn into transports to cross water. Water should be a barrier not something I can just click and tell my unit to cross. This is why I think there should be transports the the dock can build to carry my units across along with transport airplanes that can drop paratroopers and helicopters. Workers should be able to build two kinds of bridges, one should be a quick pantoon type bridge that takes a short time to build but in very weak. Also it can only be used to cross small rivers. Next is a larger bridge that is alot stronger than the panton bridge but takes alot longer to build

Got spare money?

The "bridges" factor is already built in- defending units get a bonus when the attackers are on the other side of the river,

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

I like how they turn into boats automaticaly, much less micromanagement. I no longer have to build the boat, load all the guys. Build more boats because that wasn't enough, load more guys. Send them to invade the other beach. Then micromanage to unload the boats under fire. Trying to get them all to unload at the same time so my guys don't get torn to shreds. Its annoying. I like the way it is.

Me too. Its this streamlined gameplay that BHG has emphasized throughout RoN.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I like it the way it is too; BUT
I would prefer all units ordered at the same time to cross the water had to wait onshore until all were there.

This could provide an arbitrary delay to simulate gathering of shipping.

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I have noticed that the transport ships in RoN are extremely easy to sink. It adds some challenge, as you need a navy to protect them.
