As the horrible time when, due to the horrible shock the Spanish Kingdom received, that we completely lost faith in God, said the Paternoster backwards, threw down the holy crucifixes, smashed our beautiful stained glass windows, built horrifically ugly barns of churches, instead of reverently saying “The Lord” or “Christ”, said “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” as if we were calling the cat into the house, flirted with Protestantism, and our King wanted to get a divorce from his wife just because. When we come to our senses, perhaps the King could be deposed in favour of a certain Prince Carlos. (nod to Spanish history)
Of course, there are some well-meaning people who have to be eccentric in any age, and these are the people who are led by some priests who have decided to grow quite long beards and get married.
The thing that makes us come to our senses is the arrival of Ignacio Pikesfan, latest scion of the long-lost Pikesfan family who have carefully preserved all the memories and traditions of Spain, and who finally arrives after an arduous journey from the Court of Prester John over the sea, and is so shocked by the horrible changes he spends his life leading the remnants of Spain back to the light.

Here we go... taking from the progression of political systems in European history...
In the beginning, Iberia was a Despotism ruled by a series of tyrants.
Eventually, the final tyrant was overthrown and replaced by one of his relatives as the first "King" of Feudal Spain. We had a Feudal Monarchy for many years afterward.
The King and the nobles in the feudal system signed the Vigo Accord, giving real power to the House of Lords and effectively making Spain an Aristocracy, or at most an "Aristocratic Republic".
Now, the financial crisis, the many feudal lords without lands to either protect or provide tribute to the royal treasury for paying war expenses, and the growing power of the centralized royal bureaucracy in Pamplona along with the declaration of the Crusade and the further development of the ideas of rule by divine right have lead to/will lead to the formation of an Absolute Monarchy with a modern and centralized bureacratic system of administration rather than a feudal one based upon the fealty of the lords.
The lords, rather than holding lands throughout the country, will be an elite class expected to be in attendance at the Royal Court in Pamplona where all decisions are made. The absolute monarch will undoubtedly be eventually be overthrown when absolute monarchism falls out of fashion later in the Middle Ages, but for now his reign is supreme.
As for the story...
The King disbands the House of Lords along with declaring royal power over all lands in Spain and over the collection of all taxes, duties, and tariffs directly to the royal treasury. As for the landed aristocracy, they are no longer to be primarily feudal lords, but rather the top tier of an elite administrative class responsible for the business of the Court and the general maintenance of the empire.
The Church, as always, will retain its respected place in Spanish society and retain all rights and privledges which it has previously enjoyed.
The "Anarchy", such as it exists, will be the actions of several feudal lords upset with the disbandment of the House of Lords and the greatly growing power of the crown in relation to the lords. Some may even attempt to take up arms against the crown, but will ultimately fail, an absolute monarchy being established.
Inevitably (as discussed before), this absolute form of monarchy will be replaced when it falls out of fashion or a true Republican revolution takes place, wiping monarchism (in part or entirely) out.
Does that work?

Well, we must always keep in mind that the republican hordes are raging through the streets, in search for one with royal blood, to paint the walls of Pamplona with it....
REVOLUTIOOOOOOONNNNNN!!!!!!! :headbanger:
Alternatively, we can also have a band of religious fanatics taking power in an attempt to restore order to the kingdom, taking power from the lords and nobility.
