Ugh, I HATE people.
Do you realize how many of our (American) traffic problems could be solved or greatly lightened if people properly understood and abided by the two-lane system?
It goes like this: the left lane is for traffic that is moving faster than traffic in the right lane, REGARDLESS of the speed limit. If you are in the left lane, you should be actively passing the cars in the right lane -- not going the same speed or letting them pass you.
Seriously, MANY of our traffic problems would be solved because of this, particularly on the interstates and highways between cities. I see so many people driving the speed limit in the left lane with a dozen cars backed up behind them. Sure, those dozen cars may want to break the law and speed, but the self-righteous (or ignorant) few prevent that from happening and therefore build up more immediate traffic. Not to mention road-rage: tailgating may not be nice nor is it appropriate, but so much of it could be avoided by being curteous and DRIVING IN THE PROPER LANE. |
You really shouldn't be driving long term in the left lane. That lane is the passing lane- use it to get past the slow person ahead of you, then move back into the right.
