Piggy back spam, like the crap MSN and Yahoo put at the end of their users e-mails.

Makes no difference but it can get at least a half second of my attention.

Spammers can only get your address if it gets exposed (to one of them). So you can keep hidden by not revealing it through subscriptions, websites, etc.

The first rule you learn about spam is don't trust anything they say, including the opt out bit.

All e-mail ads have to be opt in, not opt out.

Sure I don't trust any spam anymore (I had very little trust before, but I thought the US had the decency to have at least some laws wrt spam). But I thought Plato was actually telling the truth (if that was him ; however, I'm 100% sure a mortgage guy told me about strict spamming policies from morgage companies on this forum)

using yahoo mail works well for me. Their spamguard (tm) filters out most spam and the 1 or 2 that come through get the "this is spam" link clicked to tell yahoo to filter out another address.

Of course the spamguard sometimes puts legitimate mail in the spam folder, so I check it before just erasing it all. Until I put in the filter, all the Apolyton emails went directly to the bulk folder.

Put an end to popups!

I think one of the thing it checks is how many people the message is sent to. If it's to a large number of people or to an unknown list, off to the spam folder it goes.

But then, I haven't been spammed for some years now.

Not true... sometimes they send out to random email adresses... I've got an email adress which is only known by me, nobody else knows this adress, but still I got very much spam each day on that one (This was a test email only, so I don't have this account anymore)...

...and NO! I don't send spam to myself

Tired of ads?

so far, i've been lucky with my main email. i have three emails: one is private, which i don't give out to anyone except at the university and to my family/close friends; that one has yet to encounter spam.

now, the other two, which i use for business and signing up for things... those get hit by spam a lot. but what's nice is that both yahoo and msn/hotmail allow for the spam filtering, and i have to say it works quite well: especially when i see my inbox has 25 email messages, 10 of which are spam, and 246 bulk email, all of which are spam (after not checking for two days.)

usually i delete anythign i don't recognize, and autodelete anything with random strings at the end, like:

"increase your penis size now! asdfahw43rawgfgasexxdgfa"

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

aol is really reliable ISP for browsing, chat, email, stuff like that. Alot of its features are really good, like the 8.0 pop up blocker (I havent seen an ACS popup in like a year)

Aol wants to stop spammers, so they can spam you :P

But they are crooks. Try to cut off your service once. THey will bill you hardcore. Then, get this. When they compensated me for the excess billing. They gave me a year free! And I use it with cable now, so the front end is fine.

Oh and they do pretty well at stopping spam :P.

Successful Spammers should received life in prison or shot or both.
One of them broke my password last week and sent 250 e-mail before AOL could shut them down. I went to log on and had to call AOL get a temp password to log on and then change to a new password. Also had to scan my computer with one of their scanner to make sure he/she did not leave a back door. Cost me a few hours before I could use my computer to log on to poly or anything else.

I really get miffed when I go to a link to find out it's just an ad page...for example, recently I was going to visit a Red Faction website and I just got "Size does matter! Increase your length with all-natural herbal methods!" With a tiny link at the bottom saying "This domain is for sale"

If I understand this correctly, several organisations facilitate this BS. Can I have their executives' addresses so I can go to their house and strangle them?

this is true and is why they tell you not to get addresses like sally @ aol.dontspamme.com or even sally3 @ aol.dontspamme.com...

uh, oh, if some web crawler sees this post, then those emails will start being spammed

edit (felt sorry for sally @ aol.dontspamme.com)

Tired of ads?

My hotmail account is spammed to high heaven.

Luckily, my @apolyton account has a spam filter which shoves *SPAM* in the subject line of all suspected spam messages. Catches about 95% of the buggers.

I have AOL and I receive zero junk e-mail.

Don't other Internet service users have any e-mail control features similiar to what AOL provides?
